  • Morning all! Glad I've encouraged you all to be busy with your sorting!

A grey day here too, but it does seem to have stopped raining. It is race day today - the GMFR. It's a bit longer than I normally do, and far bigger with 7,000 entrants. Also the 'fun' run element brings out those in fancy dress, pushing sofas etc etc.

I've got my kit on and am making sandwiches for the 'open house' afterwards. Although it's far better for running in the cool drizzle than it would be in sunshine, not so much fun for the spectators.

    • Best of luck with the running Hazel. Hope you do not get too wet. Still raining heavily here so glad I had my game of golf yesterday, not that I played well! Playing bridge this afternoon.

      • Good Morning Happy Gardeners We won't let a bit of drizzle ruin our day after all, its June tomorrow and everyone knows June means warm and sunny

Good luck Hazel, I'll think of you running while I stuff myself with doughnuts!
One of the gentlemen I met yesterday, collecting my "junk" told me about a plant sale this afternoon so I may have to go there - they're selling CAKE too

Have a great day everyone -whatever you're up to.

        • Morning all, a bit damp here but the weather is a lot better than I was expecting. We are off to meet our friends this afternoon for dinner and some drinkies so may arrive late tomorrow morning! Hope you all have a lovely day too.

            • hello folks

Sounds like you've had an op Martin in the not too recent past. I went back about 15 pages to try and find out more and drew a blank but never mind - the important thing is that your scans are clear now, hooray!! And as other Grapes have said about chemo, it isn't necessarily too bad and some lucky folks just sail through it. Hope you are one of those!

              Congrats on your anniv, Scarlet!

Hope the run went well, Hazel. Sounds like you are making sarnies for everyone AS WELL AS running - that is impressive.

Hope everyone else has had a good day too.

We're just back from Blackburn where we stayed with friends last night. Went for a walk this morning and twisted my ankle in a ditch and fell flat on my face! I had to lie there, in the mud, for about 10 minutes, recovering. Couldn't really say why - everyone was trying to help me up but I just thought getting vertical seemed a very bad idea!

It isn't too bad now though I think I'll have a big bruise to show off tomorrow.

              • Evening peeps!

I've had a cracking day with a new PB for the GMFR course - hurrah! It was perfect running conditions (drizzly, light breeze, 12deg) though not so good for the spectators - my mum who came along to cheer us on had to have a Hot Cup of Tea as soon as we got back to mine in order to warm up!

Sandwiches etc went down well afterwards - just a couple of left overs (which I have just scoffed!) and a few strawbs and cream which I shall have later; everything else hoovered up.

Had restorative hot bath and nap and am just doing my maths geek thing analysing my race stats.

And yes, they all hot put back to sort out another day ( don't tell Hazel though )
When I first meet my OH he had a guitar in most rooms and mouth organs everywhere - Including the side pocket of the drivers side door for when he was stuck in traffic jams now I not only put up with his musical instruments but also my boys! A few weeks back I got rid of one full size drum kit - son #1 has a super duper kit and he also had a starter kit that we bought secondhand 10 years ago which he wouldn't part with. I had enough and took it outside and left it on the pavement with a big "please take" sign. It was only there for an hour

                    • Did anyone tell the chap in red with the rucksack that's he's going to run the wrong way?
                      Congrats Hazel.
I did think of you while I ate - not doughnuts, but ginger cake and Welsh Cakes and I still have some chocolate cake for later
The Plant sale was a bit Ho-Hum. Lots of the plants looked like the things that overrun my garden - like montbretia and mint. Bought some Welsh onions and variegated leaf iris. Did I mention the cake?

                              Yep - well, it's 1511 actually, but you can't see the '1'.

Edit: it says 'Hazel' underneath the number, but you can't see the 'H' or the 'l' either!
