  • Mornin all
    Jamming and ironing today.
    Don't care if it rains!

We didn't get many cherries off the tree as we'd expected, but I've microwaved and juiced the split ones which were otherwise OK
So, I need to dip into the freezer and hook out some other fruit to go with it to make up the volume.
Blackcurrants I think should work well?

I defrosted the small freezer yesterday so need to transfer fruit back in there.

Anyone tried grapefruit marmalade? I've got 5 grapefruit to do something with

      • Morning all! We've a very grey, cloudy sky this morning - pretty much what you expect on the first week of school hols
OH has promised to take me for an overnight stay somewhere near Oxford on Sat. There's a specialist cake shop I want to go to near Thame, I've never been but it looks worth a visit. Googling hotels and pubs now looking for a special treat. Though I think we may have left it a bit late as usual

Good luck with the jamming girls!

It's a lovely place Scarlet, not very big so a nice easy walk down one side & return on the other, calling in some of the many pubs & coffee shops along the way. The shops are quite diverse, last time I was there it was market day which was definitely a plus, loads of good stalls to browse

            • Morning all. Just got back from the allotment with the kids. Done a bit of hoeing and managed to cut the grass a bit before the mower conked out. It started to spit a bit with rain when we left but is chucking it down now.
So will do some tidying up next then it will be dinner time for the kids.
              Have a good day everyone

                        • Aha - got it now. Mind you, those red flowers in the display look suspiciously like roses as opposed to sweet peas...?

Although that might be my fading eyesight, I guess.

                          • Sorry - where are my manners? Evening all.

Hope you've all had a good day - it's been humid here all day, but freshened up after a good sharp shower about 6.30pm, coinciding with our running club session. I must say that it felt superb, and when we turned to head up a trail into the woods, you could smell the ground loving it too - all earthy.

Domino cat has been busy this evening too, where he has mostly been devouring an entire tuna steak which I cooked for him - the Next-doors brought it round to see if he'd like it as they were concerned wasn't fit for human consumption after they had a glitch with their freezer door not sealing properly. He is now rotund.

I'm sure you're right Hazel I'm also sure that the larger white ones are roses as well I think it was a themed display that only needed a percentage of sweet peas
