  • Took a couple of tablets for my grumpy knee at bedtime, so never heard a thing all night - and didn't wake up til late

Forecast is for sunny spells this morning but no sign of them yet.

    • Morning all!

Looks like a nice one out there today - v windy last night, but nothing like the weather that the Scottish grapes have had. Hope everyone is ok up there.

I have a hop-up for the top shelves on the wall cupboards, Scarlet, but even so, getting to the backs is tricky, so I put things up there which I use rarely, or as longer term storage - so the vases in the larder unit; little bottles of lemonade/tonic and a stock of homemade jars jam/pickle.

One thing I was advised on when I had the kitchen done was to 'allow' a space for clutter - you're going to get some miscellaneous stuff whatever you do, so putting a defining area aside means it doesn't 'creep'.

Mine is one of the windowsills (cat zoom groom, wire twists, secateurs/gardening gloves if they are waiting taking to the car); although things like little screws that I don't want to throw away in case they are useful, fuses, batteries waiting to be recharged etc tend to end up in the fruit bowl.

Well enough of my empty worktops - there are files to shuffle.....

I've got 'em, Thelma! They're wasted on me today as I'm behind the desk, so I'll send them across to you, as long as I can have them back tomorrow.

              • Hazel.....you'd pass out if you walked into my kitchen!

We're about to knock through into the utility room cos it's sooo cluttered, which will double our storage space .
Most of my UK kitchen appliances are still in boxes waiting to be unpacked!...and yes, I can't wait to get my hands on them

The units we have are typical for our area.
Reinforced concrete surface which has been tiled.
The bases are all 3" of concrete with broken tiles grouted onto it.
Even the verticals are 3" reinforced concrete .

Can you imagine the dust getting/smashing that lot out?

When I say 'about to' I mean in the next few months....

                        • I had to have an integrated microwave as there was no room on the worksurface

                          • Sounds like a good plan Nic as you are gonna need plenty of dust sheets, polythene & masking tape. Don't forget the masks & goggles.

                              • Bessie likes worktops I have to keep all the chairs well away from the table as she jumps onto it and makes her way round the worktops, eating anything she can find. Just one of her more endearing habits
