Nice that some of us still have some parsnips to dig up - I dug up The Parsnip of 2014 and had it in an Irish stew a couple of weeks ago, and the tiny leeks were all eaten up ages ago . Can I keep a banana bun for later? I'm still full of Dotty's banana and walnut loaf.

          • Evening All. I've been shopping for a few essentials as I will be trapped in the house until Wednesday The road outside the house is being resurfaced so the car has to stay on the drive. I can't easily walk out either because there are no pavements, just narrow grass verges right up to the hedges.
My escape route is either climb out over the back fence into the fields and go crosscountry or, out of my front gate, into my neighbour's front gate, across his garden, out of his other gate, into his neighbour's front garden, out of their other gate etc until I reach a house with a pavement outside it.
            Should be entertaining

            • VC - just as well you don't come from softer climes or you'd be trapped there for weeks :-)

Sounds like when The OH "forgot" I was with him while in Fuerteventura (in our 20's, avoiding work while windsurfing for 6months ) we were renting a one roomed apartment with a bathroom. I went for a shower, meanwhile OH spotted the wind come in and BANG! He was gone! Locked me in with the only key! I had to get out the back door, scale several walls, creep through gardens until I got on the road.
Stormed to the beach to find him putting his kit back in the car cos he'd suddenly remembered me!! Boy, did he pay for that!

Can you see a pattern emerging with cake?

                              • Morning all. Very cold here takes your breath away. Had a frost but not as bad as predicted.
So kids are at school, OH is at work and I am sat down with a cuppa to get warm. Going to get the washing out and into the tumbler then do some cleaning again.
                                Have a good day everyone.
