      • ^^^ I have one of those. I was a bit upset because they didn't want to see my proof of age They never ask if I'm over 18 when buying wine either
Morning All - cloudy, only 4C but no snow or rain. The earth is still moving here and there's that wonderful, nose clearing smell of tar outside. Reminds me of that little metal chimney thing with a nightlight in and ?Vick's Coal tar liquid, that used to be burnt in the bedroom when we kids had a cold. Bet that's been banned on H&S grounds.

        • Mornin all!

My kids had those VC!...and I hasten to add they are not as young as you ...yet!

I love the smell of tar too...funnily enough (seeing as we are reminiscing )....when I was a teenager, I used to go horse riding with a friend whose horse hated the smell of pigs and hot tar.
He'd gallop off in the opposite direction no matter what was in his way...very dangerous to say the least

          Sprinkles of snow here...quickly melting.

If they don't ask me for proof of age when I'm buying drink I tell them I won't shop there anymore - always gets a laugh

Morning all - hard chess match last night against the best team in the league with 3 substitutes for 2 of our strongest players resulting in me being on board 2. We got beat 5-1 but myself and another managed to draw.

              • Morning all! Already fire fighting from here behind the desk! Why don't people (a) take notice of what you tell them and (b) read the email which you sent to confirm what you told them? Hey ho!

I joked with the barmaid in one of our locals that just once in my life I'd like to be asked for proof of age in a pub, and she said, 'Be careful what you wish for - if I do ask for proof that you're over 18, and you can't provide it (one of the proscribed photo docs - passport, proof of age card, driving licence), by law I can't serve you!'

                  Isn't breathing tar a carcinogenic??

Edit: No, that can't be right or the road surface chaps would be (at the very least) all be wearing face masks.

Surely that should be 2 subs for 2 of your strongest players - if you have 3 subs you'd end up with more players than the other team - is that allowed??
