I looked out of the kitchen window at lunchtime and saw a knot of Midges flitting about over my wild flower patch. Midges in December? What a strange climate we have. Its not evern that warm. No sunshine and about 6c temp.

Very unusual as you say!
I did a quick goooogle and descovered they live anything from 20-30 days...so these would have hatched during the mild weather we had back in November.
Strange the recent frosts didn't get them though!Last edited by Nicos; 16-12-2014, 04:45 PM."Nicos, Queen of Gooooogle" and... GYO's own Miss Marple

I've seen some this week.
There's been a lot in the garden.
Midges, blackbirds, robin, blue tits, crows, magpies, little cats, big cats (no not tigers), next door's dog, my cat..Last edited by alldigging; 17-12-2014, 09:50 AM.
