  • onions all gone

Well that's it, all my onions have been used up

They preserved very well stored in a basket in the garage.

I need to grow a LOT more next year. Around 300 should do it

All the french beans have also now been eaten

Again I will sow a lot more of these next year. 20 plants should do it.

I do still have some potatoes left. Sarpo Mira, I am amazed at how well they have stored in a hessian sack under the stairs, where it is cool and pitch black.

Also, I sowed 50 kelsaes tonight I will thin these down to 15 over the next couple of months.....

It sure is good to have the propogator out again!!!!!!!

    Merry xmas all!!!!!

all my onions have gone as well - they weren't massive but they had bags of flavour (I'm starting to cry just thinking about them). Still got jars of pickled onions and a few shallots. Spuds have all gone but still have a freezer full of beans (I harvested the last of my runners last week to dry for soups stews and rresowing - thought I was going to have to thrash the things to death they just refused to stop growing)

I've got about 8 red onions left. I will definitely be planting a lot more next year.

Still got some onions, loads of spuds, some leeks, carrots and all the celeriac left here. Perhaps I should grow less next year? (No way!).

I still have heaps of onions, enough to keep making the delish french onion soup, but I am finding mine are not keeping very well. Naff weather at lifting time

I've still got lots of onions. They aren't keeping too badly, even the overwintered ones are still usable. They got a good ripening before storage, which I'm sure helps.

I probably have enough to see us through to Feb, but got plenty of leeks to fill the gap

I didnt plant enough onion sets this year. I dont know what I was thinking about when planning how much space they would need and didnt leave the correct amount of room on the plot. So I ran out of onions in September.
I must remember not to do that again.
