  • What makes me happy?

Inspiring others to do daft things

Living a long way away from Mr Lump

    • This isn't a 'what makes me happy post' but rather a 'what the eff just happened post ?'
Up at the allotment, checking my phone and I suddenly become aware of a buzzing sound - lift my head and there is an absolute gigantic swarm of bees round about me, the amount covered about 3/4 of my plot.

Getting out the way - it was amazing to see, plus the noise was something I've never experienced before.

They've flown off now - but my adrenaline is still pumping.

(I know the beekeepers on here will be going 'pfft' reading this )

        • Must have been those plants on your head that attracted them, Kevin
There's a nearby beekeeper who will be very upset at losing a swarm!

Its great to watch isn't it. I have wild bees in my allotment plot and they swarmed twice last year and I was there both times. The noise they make is amazing.

            • Well my sister visited and she was fine this time. Bought me a baseball cap with flowers on from her trip to America.
Then this afternoon our neighbours two door down collared the OH to see if we wanted their lean to greenhouse. They are in rented the same as us and their landlord said if they didn't want it then they could chuck it.
It's got plastic panels which made it nice and easy to lift. Just needs scrubbing about a bit.
So OH took them my last bag of compost and my last empty hanging baskets round to say thank you.
This is great in a way as it means I will need to go to a garden centre to get some more compost and see what other little bits I can pick up

Yep, first time experience for me.

I was standing in awe - with my phone in my hand, and never even thought to catch it on camera

Sadly, I reckon you are right - there's a few beekeepers on the allotment site.
