                • Success with a well known digital TV provider - I say as I look up towards the clouds.

                  I have been paying £25 something a month because I wangled a £10 a month discount.

Got a letter today saying it was going up by £3 to pay for services I don't use.

Straight on the phone to cancel account (again), told the nice lady why and she said I had been a customer for 13 years so she could offer me a deal.

After I said no to phone & broadband, HD and extra thingy I was offered (for a 12 month fixed term contract) a 5 year payment period of £24.11 a month.

Went into the ins and outs of any catches, microscopic T & C's etc then did the deal.

                  They can afford it.

My advice to any Grape that has been with this provider for as long as they reakon we have (13 years - I don't think so but hey ho) phone and have a moan at them as its amazing what deals they can offer.

                    • The passport office has surpassed my best expectations.

Last Wednesday morning I put my best foot forward and got out the 3 passport application forms that had been hiding in the car for weeks. One for me, one for my hubby and one that I was guaranteed to mess up.

                      I hate filling in forms.

As we were only renewing our passports the forms were actually dead simple, still managed to wreck one of course.

Then I needed photos. I got out the camera, stuck it on a tripod draped a white sheet over the tv and using the timer got what I considered to be a reasonably non-convict looking photo of myself at about the 10th attempt. When husband appeared I got a pic of him too. I printed them out at "best photo" setting on good quality photo paper. I decided we were still recognisable from our old passports and didn't need them countersigning.

I took them to the main Post Office at lunchtime to send them "Special Delivery". The counter clerk was an obnoxious know it all type who tried his best to get me to use their checking service, sell me currency and then try and get me to change my broadband.

He really could not believe I wasn't using his checking service. As I left I asked if he knew how long passports were taking at the moment. "Well if you use our service 3 weeks, but if you don't I have no idea" he said nastily.

I think I might go tell him tomorrow. Today they plopped through the letterbox. It took exactly one week and during that time I've had 2 texts from them telling me firstly that they had received my application and then that they were printing them and so would arrive in the next few days.

Yes I am a happy bunny.
