  • Spent the day at Collingham Show in Notts

My 3 favourite things today were.....

In 3rd place admiring the Atlantic Giant pumpkin that won it's class and realising that it could be turned into a good sized 2 bed bungalow.

In 2nd place was making a fuss of the Mom and baby alpaca and finding out that they can make noises like quiet Clangers.

But in 1st place was the horse drawn ploughing.....standing between a Shire and a Clydesdale whilst being nuzzled and not laughing at, what I thought were horses but turned out to be mules that could plough. Watching them so close was really fantastic.

Oh and Vera the European Eagle Owl that walks everywhere!
I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work. Thomas A. Edison

            • Bumping into friends you haven't seen for years.
              What a great feeling.
Me and my sister, meeting friends we went to school with.
It made our day and doesn't it bring back such happy memories.

                    • Knocking nearly a minute off my 5k PB this morning . I knew that I was feeling pretty up for this one, but this exceeded all my expectations.

That's a PB for 5miles a couple of weeks ago; a 5k PB today - I'm mulling over going for the hat-trick with a track session next weekend to see if I can whop my 1k time into touch....

                          • Whilst clearing my kitchen in readiness for the builders I found the little bag of poppy seeds that I collected 10 years ago when Brian died. They were collected from some California Poppies that decided to bloom when we were clearing the garden of 5 sheds. They had never appeared before. The last photo's of him include these in the background so when he died I saved the seeds.

I thought they'd been chucked out when my children cleared my house. I haven't been able to have a proper garden for a few years so these will be the first things I sow. I'm so pleased they turned up.

Winning the all Ireland football final today.
Played between Kerry and Dublin, with Kerry being slightly favoured.
                                Horrible weather throughout the afternoon.
Rain snd more rain, but a great result never the less.
