So not really a happy posting more a confused posting and need to write down my thoughts. Okay I can finish my course in June, I can go on for another year (if I want to). If I finish this year I will leave with an HNC in Horticulture. My thoughts have been go on and do another year but also look at getting a weekend job related to my course.
HOWEVER on the college Intranet there is a job advertised. It is a traineeship based at Oxford University Botanic Gardens, the job is for a year. Wages are low but imagine what I could learn in this job. Plus there is no age restriction (Edinburgh Botanic Gardens take on apprenticeships but you must be aged under 19). Ahem I'm a wee bit older than 19. All I can think about is I want this job, I will give it my all. I know living costs are high in Oxford but I also have Mr Frosty's pension. Rent a wee room for a year?
OMG I'm all confused (and sort of excited). Heavens I'm 44 and look at me!

Frosty - you go girl and do whatever makes you happy and content. I am so envious that your life can throw in these exciting opportunities - but you must do what is right for YOU and not be controlled by anyone else as its not their life or future.
My Grandma told me, when I was in my 20's that she believed that a person had 1 moment of true clarity in their lives and no more. That clarity could happen at any time and could mean both celebration or commiseration.
Whatever you decide just make sure you are happy with the decision.
P.S you can get an awful lot of cost cutting student recipes online!I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work. Thomas A. Edison

Definitely Frosty, you have to go for it, otherwise you'll always be thinking 'what if' etc. it's only a year, which will go very quickly, and you never know where it might lead. I did 2 Diplomas in my 50's , so don't even think about age. You're probably feeling a little bit 'wobbly' about applying, but def go for it, no harm done, and I wish you all the best, if it's what you want. Oxford is a good place to be. XDottyR

Go for it Frosty. How often do these chances ever come up? Well not very often.
I had the chance of a new life in New Zealand but didn't take the chance and I do regret it. I had a place to stop and some one to vouch for me and I just didn't take the chance. Ain't going to get a chance like that again.
It sounds like a dream job.sigpic
