    • For a couple of weeks my husband who is half-deaf at the best of times (and won't wear his hearing aids because he says they make his ears itch) has been moaning that his hearing is worse. I've been putting warm olive oil in them twice a day to try and soften any wax-as recommended by the nurse in the past.

Last night he said his hearing was worse than ever. (tv volume at rock concert levels)

This morning I made an appointment for one of the nurses at our surgery to have a quick look.

      Amazing result!!!

She got one of the other nurses to syringe them there and then. Masses of wax.

He can't exactly hear a pin drop but, Oh joy, at least I'm not going to be deafened by his tv tonight (2 rooms away)

                      • Our old labradore - Archie has been passed by the vet for another 4 weeks of being a lovely dog.
He has end stage arthritis which is being helped by injections and painkillers but has to go to the doggy doc every 4 weeks for assessment - he still sits (albeit lopsided) and goes for short walks 3 times a week, eats like a piglet and wags like a manic drummer but we know that sooner rather than later the d.d will tell us enough is enough.
When we were asked to foster him we were told it might only be for a few weeks (that was last July) as he was so bad but he has surprised everyone.
                        For now he's good!
