  • I mowed my new lawn for the first time this afternoon, using my lovely new 50-year-old lawnmower that I bought nearly 3 months ago:

    It cuts beautifully!

The lawn is still a bit patchy, but it's getting there.

It's an old-fashioned push jobbie: a JP Maxees Mark 3, made in the sixties. The Rolls Royce of push mowers, far better quality than anything made today.

          • My father had one of those and if I was good I was allowed to stand on that green bar over the back roller to increase the weight and make better lines in the lawn

            * looks down to check how many toes and feet I have left

Funny thing is, not realising at the time how dangerous that was, I have lovely memories of pleasing my father achieve a prettier lawn!

                          • My printer developed 'head problems' - the replacement printer is a better spec, two thirds of the cost and I managed to link it wirelessly in the space of just half an hour to the network, such that both PC's AND the laptop can all use it. I am such a clever sod!

                            • Yesterday I decided to tackle a very large border that has got out of control in my garden, it has a huge bay tree which I chopped back. Rang a friend/neighbour to ask if she could use the cuttings in her church flower arrangements and she came over to pick them up, looked a me and my overgrown border and promptly rolled her sleeves up good friends give us lots to smile about.
