  • I trundled all the way to my local DIY store, this morning, to get lino for the bathroom floor. Despite their website saying it was in stock, the staff tell me they no longer stock it in their smaller branches - so I bought plants instead!

Went into the neighbouring flooring specialist. Their nice lino is extortionate, and their cheap lino is revolting. So I went next door and bought 'Dinner for two for a tenner' instead.

Came home, visited my favourite on-line auction site and bought a fab bit of lino for eight quid!

      • 2 dragonflies, 2 damsels, a praying mantis, a dozen butterfly and moth species, more beetles, wasps and bees than I can name and all in the walk between the compost bins and the house.
No wonder I don't get much done around here!

          • Out in the garden just now with a torch in the dark and pouring rain to pull up an onion (husband is making his famous spag bol).
Was sploshing along the path in my flip-flops, grimacing at the crunch-squelch crunch-squelch as snails met their doom and my torch illuminated a big rock.....

Only it wasn't a rock...it was a BIG FAT JUICY TOAD....enjoying his squelchy supper

                  • My chicken feeder trough has just arrived - OK it looks more mauve than girlie pink but I don't think the hens will mind.

I think I might have gone a bit overboard though....do you think its a little on the large side for 3 hens?

                        • For a few minutes today I was my little boys hero. We went out and had a picnic by a river and there were loads of ducks there. So we had taken bread for them and the kids were specifically told not to get the bread out as the ducks will mob them. So while I took the rubbish to the bin Will got the bread out.
I heard a scream and turned around and there was Will stood on a bench will all the ducks around him trying to get to the bread and nipping at his toes.
So I waded through them picked him up and dropped a couple of slices for the ducks to fight over. He told me I was his hero for rescuing him from the vicious ducks.
Don't often get to be a 5 year old boys hero but I was today
