          • Sorting out 'things' indoors and getting them into the rubbish/recycled/charity shop the day before the dustmen come, usually it's the day after. Hubby is amazed.

I grow 70% for us and 30% for the snails, then the neighbours eats them

              • Making a roast dinner for the in-laws including home-grown parsnips, swede, potatoes and runner beans. With mint and rosemary from the garden for extras.

Even better - having MIL do all the peeling for me.

                          • Stealing wickedly funny things from Fb and sharing them ::::

My friend gave me advice which you might like: how to react when unknown or coded number is calling you. You do not ignore it but answer and before anyone can speak say with a calm voice: " it's all taken care of but there is blood everywhere."
My mum tried it few times and there was silence on the other end and then disconect. And no more calls from unknown number.

                              • An un-rushed day on the plot. Watching the sun come out, and the air fill with glittering insects. Moving the compost bin.

Even crying a little, watching bumble bees and butterflies on the marigolds, and thinking how much Mum would have loved the plot, but never lived to see it. Even 'good' sadness can make you happy.
