  • Soft and cuddly

No, no,I know I am but this isn't an ad on a dating site . I have this thing which I know is stupid but it is me. As an example, a few years ago, whilst in a scrapyard scavenging for bits for my old saab, I found a cuddly toy, covered in oil and grease abandoned in the boot of the car. Couldn't just leave him there so I took him home and cleaned him up, (soaked in a washing powder solution and then through the hot wash cycle) and he came out looking brilliant and loveable. He now lives on my bedside table.

He's called Scrappie because of where he was found.

Anyone else daft enough to show their soft side? Puppies and kittens not allowed.

My daughter had a lovely white bear she called Mung Bean that had been given to her by her then fiancé. She was living in a shared house and there were no locks on the tenants doors. The landlord was doing an "inspection" and left her door open. Another tenants dog got in and did some damage to said bear. To hide it and because she was moving she gave him to me to look after. I mended him and looked after him for several years. He disappeared in a house move.

The pink doll who is called Dolly drop (don't ask me why because I do not have a clue why I called her that) I got her off my nan when I was a baby and it has been with me ever since. And can never get rid of her.

And the monkey who is called Billy Bob(Again I don't know why I called him that ha) I got him 10 years ago when I was in America.

I have (had) a gorilla called Gunter - given to me years ago by a very good friend. Not sure where he is now after latest house move - I hope one of the grandchildren has him. Failing finding Gunter the next in line is my Meerkat, but he has to lie on a shelf cos the dog will eat him

I have a panda too AP. I've had him since I was a little girl mumble mumble years ago, so he's well into middle age now. And strangely (or maybe not) after all these years if I take his hand knitted clothes off, he seems rather shockingly naked, so he keeps them on at all times.

He used to have a growl, but that stopped working after he was washed one time. He is filled mostly with something like straw - it rustles anyway when you squeeze him. His head is held on with large childish stitches as it came loose many years ago.

              He is called..........Panda

edit - and I love him

I have a bear called Griswold - I will put a photo up of him when we have haggled over royalties. Anyhow I have always slept with a bear, which has caused some looks of amused embarrassment in the past when I had a bedroom visitor!
However, on a serious note my Griswold is invaluable to me as he is always there, never judges, agrees with everything I say and does not complain too much when I have to perform major surgery on his seams to keep them together.
