  • Bucket List

I have been thinking over the last few weeks about what I had the chance to do and did'nt or what I would like to do before I no longer exist.
e.g I had the chance to go to India for a few months when I was 19 and decided not to, anyhow this started me thinking ....
so here is my top 5 Bucket List

    1. Stand on the Great Wall of China during a full moon and wave so the moon can see me.
    2. Go to Tahiti and stand in knee depth water to hand feed the stingrays (saw it on TV)
    3. Ride a camel
    4. Go to Troy, now called Hissalik in modern day Turkey and imagine Homer's Illiad
    5. Help a ewe give birth to a lamb.

Ticked one off my list a couple of years ago when I drove the Mulsanne straight at Le Mans. When the famous 24 hour race isn't taking place it's a 'normal' road, but with the spectator armco still in place at roadside all year long.

I've done my bucket list already, just in case

Go to Peru and visit Macchu Picchu
      Own a wood
      Live by the sea
      Be happy.

There's nothing more than I need to do.

Lumpy, I've already ticked 3 and 4 on your list

Lump I've done number 3 (also kissed one but that's a different story) and sort of done number 5 but with a nanny goat (though honestly, there are some places you should tell an 11 to put their hand. Not when they've just popped in for tea and biscuits).

        1 Visit Nepal and Tibet
2 sail a boat repeatedly back and forth over the international date line to see if the auto time/date on my phone can keep up
3 visit Narnia (I have a map showing where it is)
4 make that South American dish I heard of years ago - Chocolate Chilli Guinee Pig
5 Spend Christmas on Easter Island
6 Spend Easter on Christmas Island

          1. Swim in lake Titicaca.
          2. Winter in Northernmost Alaska.
          3. Become a potty old recluse on my own remote smallholding.

These are the only three outstanding from quite a long list

I thought this was going to be a thread about planting unusual veg in containers - cue PotsTubsDustbins!

Things I have done that I would recommend for a bucket list:

See a full eclipse of the Sun (i.e. 100% totality)
See Saturn's rings through an amateur telescope
            Safari in Africa

I've ridden a camel - nothing special, suggest replacing your #3 with something else.

I did my one major thing a few years ago and that was to cruise down the Nile and go to the Valley of Kings.
So I now have my top 5.
              1. Visit New Zealand.
              2. Go to Iceland and see one of their volcanoes
              3. Go to Las Vegas. Go and do their fruit machines
              4. Go to a Las Vegas Si Fi convention.
              5. Move to Norfolk. Like a place called Diss so would want to move into that area.

I think camel has got to stay - it's all because I heard a story about a camel years ago.
I'm sorry to anyone if this is wrong but here goes....
Allah wanted to cross a terribly hot and dry desert and a camel offered to carry him. After days of faithful service they reached their destination. As a reward for the camels steadfast service Allah told the camel his 100th name. Now, man apparently only knows 99 names of God but the camel was told the 100th so that is why they always smile.

As far as a bucket list is concerned the more I think the longer the list gets.

                  How about a combination of
Sit on the walls of Troy - looking at the camels that took us there - dressed as Klingons - eating Chilli Chocolate Guinea Pig - while the sun is in full eclispse.

                    Interesting. Why there particularly?

One upside, for me, would be that it is near my favouritest garden - East Ruston Old Vicarage - over on the coast East of Norwich.

I only have Egypt and The Holy Land left in my bucket list, and I am resigned to that not happening in the foreseeable future, but never say never.
New Zealand, Las Vegas and See Annie Lennix sing live, all ticked off. Vegas unfortunately, is an addiction and have been approx 22 times 😀

Went to Norfolk on honeymoon. Visited Diss just by chance and loved it. We did get married in March so it was bitterly cold but they have a lake in the middle off Diss. So we were both sat on a bench looking at this lake eating a sausage roll from Greggs and both said together " I could just live here"
They have a High Street with loads of shops and there's one that sells everything I think its the local ironmongers.
Also like it because its about 40 mins from the seaside and has a train station. I know a train station seems a bit odd but a lot of places round here use to have one but they got shut down years ago.
You are also kind of in the middle for Thretford, Cromer and then going the other way Bury St Edmonds.
Just want a place with enough room to grown my own stuff, have chickens, possibly a bee hive and a dog.

Fair enough I'm from Suffolk so you won't get any dissent from me, but always curious as to why outsiders would want to move here - most people think it is too flat ("Undulating", please )

I love Norfolk. I always know when I am nearly there, ie on holiday, when we pass a big black and white windmill. Always mean to stop off and visit it with the kids but end up flying past it. There is also a church that we pass and it is covered with what looks like a pebbles from a beach. Have said when I die I want to have my ashes scattered there or as near as possible to it.
I am from the Midland and have spent most of my life in Yorkshire. There is some beautiful scenery in Yorkshire and the Midlands but I love the scenery.

We moved from Weeting, which is on the Suffolk/Norfolk border up to here 15 months ago. We spent 10 years living in Watton so I know the areas you are talking about really well.
It would be worth you considering Wymondham as well if you ever plan to move. It's very historic, close to the A47, has a train to Norwich (10 miles) and Cambridge. Old shops etc etc.
