Brian and I had a bucket list for our retirement. Unfortunately he didn't get that far so I'm working through it on my own.

    a) get a dog. It was meant to be a Labrador but I've 2 jackadoodles instead.
    b) cruise the Eastern end of the med visiting famous historical sites. I went on Terry Wogan's TOG's cruise "Ancient Wonders of the Mediterranean" in 2010
c)build a new kitchen. I've just got planning permission (and the money) and work starts at the end of this month.
d)have more time for our hobbies
e)see a lot more of the world
f)finish walking the Thames Path. We had got as far as Oxford. I'll need to be a lot fitter, but maybe going back to it would achieve that in itself.

It would be worth you considering Wymondham as well if you ever plan to move. It's very historic, close to the A47, has a train to Norwich (10 miles) and Cambridge. Old shops etc etc.
I've just depressed myself thinking of moving. Very little chance of moving for the foreseeable future. Not enough money, only rent so gets tricky sorting bonds and rent on properties, hunting round for jobs and getting an interview sorted while we are still here.
Know it sound horrible but we need that unknown relative to leave us some money then maybe we could move.

Diss train station is lovely. Car parks either side that used to be sensible prices but a little station with character. Direct line to Liverpool St. London so you can do your big days out or for not so big straight to Norwich. I used to commute to London from Diss as a student so I don't think it is odd at all. Best of both worlds not that you sound like you need convincing.

Sorry, bucket list. A couple seem rather popular

          1. New Zealand (swim with hector dolphins, see wetas, go to a kiwi santuary, try a hungi etc. there is sooooo much in New Zealand that just isn't anywhere else. Getting a bit soft to be fussed about bungee jumping though (I should have done it in my 20's before some sense started to kick in)
          2. Las Vagas
          3. See my girls grow up at least to the point of them being happy and settled with their lifestyle.
          4. Win the jackpot on the lottery or premium bonds (just to say I had won and share it with others mainly anonymously)
          5. Own emus (now that is a christmas dinner and a half)

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Bloomin big fried egg as well.

Well I have climbed my mountain the Ben in winter.

I have caved my cave Gaping gill in Yorkshire.

I have climbed and caved many others but they were my favs.

I have done my solo parachute jump, one only certain muscles had to work overtime.

            Won a banger car race.

I have been married to a fabulous, beautiful lady for 44 years and we are still in love. My son as grown into a good man.

The one thing left I would really like to do but can't see happening is to sit down to a game of 5 card draw or seven card stud at a poker table in a wild west saloon.

I only have one thing on my list of things to do before I die, and that is to live a very long, healthy life, in pursuit, as the Yanks say, of happiness.

My other half and I decided not to wait and do our bucket list so when an opportunity arises or we have the means ( time, money, etc ) to do all we want now. We have lived in NZ for a year, I lived in Africa for 8 months on a volunteer program with big cats, we saw the grand canyon, bungee jumped out of a helicopter etc lol

We want to live a year in an ashram in Indonesia
Drive the old route 66 in an rv
                Go to Bali

There our 3 main ones at the minute, but I figure we got plenty of time at our age.

I remember asking my wife's grandmother (aged 90-something):

Me: "What the best thing you have ever done?"

Granny: "Going on a cruise to Acapulco"

Me: "Is there anything you regret not doing?"

Granny: "Yes ... I regret not going to Acapulco a second time"
