Apparently now if you take off the voice of an irish, american or any non english person you are being Racist. What the hell is going on !!

Wonder if it works both ways. If a Foreigner talks in an english accent can we claim the same thing.
Wonder if perople like Rory Bremner are aware of this !!

Sorry again but i am so mad

Debbie, might I ask what variety of foreigner he impersonated? I'm sure it makes no differene to the school, but were the boys paying a game or was he having a joke on a friend that back fired?

As I understand racism it is treating someone differently due to his or her race. I wonder how this definition can be applied.

I heard recently of a little boy in INFANT school charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate!!! Also I read not long ago of a school lollipop man berated for shaking hands with children at his crossing, he was told his actions could be "mis-interpeted" as what for Heavens sake!!
Its no wonder children today have little innocence.
They must of course be protected against the evil-doers of this world but is this the way to go about it? To teach them that any innocent and friendly gesture is to be regarded with suspicion.
When I was a small child in Primary school a dear(and probably lonely)man would occasionally walk past the playground and hand out sweets,we called him the sweetie man and flocked to the school gate(this was more than fifty years ago,but has human nature changed so much)
I think of this kind and lonely soul each time I hear of someone being arrested for sitting in a park and watching children play,or seeing a parents agressive attitude should someone dare smile at their small child in a supermarket.
I can also remember being able to call your dog "Nigger" or "Darkie" without risk of arrest.
Should we start an anti-P.C. movement to counteract the ridiculous trend of todays politics? Or should we just laugh out loud and in public at these silly laws?!!!!
        Yours(and feeling better now) Polly

To all who hat political correctness (none more than me, I'll wager) how about this for a perectly, politically correct Christams greetin? I claim no originality for it, but have kept it.
Please accept, with no obligation, implied or implicit, best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low stress, non – addictive, gender neutral celebration of the Winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with all due respect to and for the religious/secular traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all.

May you have a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling, and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year of 2007, but not without all due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make Britain great, (but not implying that Britain is necessarily greater than any other country, or is the only ‘BRITAIN’ in the Western Hemisphere), and without regard to the race, creed, colour, age, physical ability, religious faith, choice of computer platform, or sexual orientation of the wishee.

By accepting this greeting, you are accepting these terms. This greeting is subject to clarification or withdrawal. It is freely transferable with no alteration to the original greeting. It implies no promise by the wisher to actually implement any of the wishes for her/himself or others, and is void where prohibited by law, and is revocable at the sole discretion of the wisher.

This wish is warranted to perform as expected within the usual application of good tidings for a period not exceeding 1 year, or until the issuance of a subsequent holiday (or other) greeting, whichever comes first, ,and warranty is limited to replacement of this wish or issuance of a new wish at the sole discretion of the wisher, or his executors in perpetuity. Your statutory rights are not effected.

Yes. A perfect tongue in cheek message for all, though I would prefer"Happy Christmas" in this Happy Christian society and if this offends you either ignore it or bugger off to where it wont.
I expect to be arrested at any time!!
Seriously,I dont care who worships what or who believes in what or whom, but I do care about freedom of speech(remember that)and the fact that our society will be taken over, stealth by stealth by a religion that I cannot name-but begins and ends with M?-and that Christian folk(with a capital or small C)should be aware. What do you think?

Many a time I have worked with canny Northerners. Great folks and they always ridicule the fact I am Welsh - you know, the usual sheep stuff. I think it's brilliant when they do the accent (a shame as I sound like a mild Londoner). 'Cos I do it right back. Can I claim to get emotionaly damaged by being a butt of an anti Welsh joke? In our PC society, probably yes!
BW - you are right, these people are best just to be left and pitied. I for one will deliberately go out and buy a brown haird dog and call it Rastas. In fact I know a guy who had a dog called Rastas.
Shirls - go get another dakky rat... A brown or black one please!!
Incidentally, some of my best mates have been Asian and, er (dare I say it...), black.
I also often answer the phone with a Russian accent and say "Russian nuclear friendship society. How did you get this number?",or in an Indian accent and say "Thomas Thomas speaking..." Not been arrested yet...
                  Let's go diggin' dirt....

You have hit the nail on the head, but please don't get me started Polly Fouracre!!! I can tell you some real horror stories from Abu Dhabi and Dubai when I lived there. Religious intolerance, no freedom of speech, the inhuman experiences had by an ex girlfriend of mine when she was indecently assulted by an arab... the list goes on...

Our society will reap as it sows.

Our youngest son can mimic accents brilliantly btw - he should be on stage. Or in a detention room!

At a slight tangent - I knew a man who lived next door to a Jehovah's Witness and who wanted to call his dog Jehovah. His wife stepped in with her moderator's hat on!

I wanted to call our dog 'Todger', but my wife wouldn't let me. I just wanted to go outside and bellow "TODGER! WHERE ARE YOU TODGER? WHERE'S MY TODGER"

Can't understand why she said 'no'!
