    Hi
looks like our site was the latest victim to yobs

    http://www.yorkpress.co.uk/news/york...ments_fire.php

why cant they just leave things alone
It was a great little friendly shop for all our allotment needs and advice.
luckily we can travel to garden centres etc as we have a car but i feel sorry for the older plot holders and elderly members who cannot travel
Hope they get the ******* but I doubt it

Oh dear. Sorry to read about that and hope indeed that they catch the culprits, however they probably won't be able to do much to deter them from doing similar stuff in the future as punishment seems to be a forgotten route.

Maybe those of you with cars could offer to take the older plot holders to the garden centre or to get a list of things they need and do the shopping for them?
    Happy Gardening,
    Shirley

They aren't yobs, they're arsonists! Let's forget terminology sympathetic to these criminals that arises from their poor, deprived and inevitable lifestyles. They should be locked up!

Oh dear - sorry to hear about the sad news. Do you know yet if they plan to re-build yet? I hope so.

I really get angry when people want to destroy something they don't share in. It's a small minded act.

By the way, I like the fact that the site manager is Mr Burn. I'd have changed my name for the interview!

              SimonCole, you are so right!!
yes, we seem to event a group name -like 'yobs' which somehow seems to soften the impact of these criminals- which is what they are! Because they are now called yobs - we seem to tollerate them, as if it has become the norm to have these so called 'yobs' and their nasty criminal ways.....oh dear. I am doing it agian, I do need someone clever to put my feekings into understandable reading! help............

Big hug goes out to all those affected by this act of distruction.....I am so sorry

So sorry - and enraged - by this act of meaningless criminality. What on earth do these idiots think they're achieving, I just dont undestand why anyone would want to do such a thing. Definitely lock the b******* up.

I have no word that can be placed here to express the anger.

Apart from all the stock of the shop were any personal tools stored there? Do you need assistance in the way of forks and trowels?

Really sorry to hear of this mindless act of stupidity that has obviously had a long term negative effect on your site! I hope the council are able to do something about errecting a new store for you, and quickly at that!

What to do with the 'Yobs'? Locking them up costs money and is to my mind of dubious results in whether it acts as a deterrant or a means of rehabilitation! Personally I'd much rather something more public and humiliating was done to these anti-social scum, such as revising the village stocks or using them to do some of the more unsavoury things that parts of our country could do with! Mind you, with our nanny state culture I'm sure it would be something of an infringement of thier human rights or leave them emotionally scarred and able to sue in our rapidly degenerating culture!

Sorry, rant over, idiots like these annoy me!

I was thinking of taring & feathering would be more apt.
And chained to the gates of York Minster With a notice round their necks saying "I am a arsonist"

You read my mine Mrs D about the village stocks, humliation would bring them back down to earth with a bang, from their possible high standing in the ranks. BUT thinking about it maybe this would be come the place to 'be seen' the higest acolade?. Needs something more than a smack on the wrist and now go away and be a good boy/girl.
It made Very sad reading debjay.

Maybe they should be made to put right the damage they caused. That is the way it would have been done years ago I suspect. There is also a chance (slim I guess) that they would find construction more satisfactory than destruction.

                            Hi
Thanks for all of your support.
The shop was insured through Joseph Rowntree Trust.
We are rebuilding and hopefully getting a portacabin in the meantime.
                            Once again THANKYOU
