Hello,
I am a keen grower of fruit and veg- though only in my back yard- as well as being an assistant producer for a new BBC One programme called The One Show. You may have seen the pilot, which was on for a month last summer. The show will launch in July as a nightly half-hour studio based programme with Adrian Chiles presenting. Throughout each show, you'll also see several short films about subjects which interest our viewers.
I am making a five-minute piece about allotments, which will look at [B]the new generation of people with allotments- eg the rise in young professionals, young women and families with small children. There has also been a change in the kind of crops grown on allotments, such as rocket and other fashionable crops.
I'm looking for someone who has had an allotment for many years. I'd like to spend a couple of hours filming with you next week on your allotment, talking about your experiences over the years, and about your opinions on the "new wave" of plot holders. Perhaps you love the new mix of people on your allotment, or maybe you are frustrated with trendy fair-weather gardeners who dissappear as soon as the frost comes and don't really know what they're doing. Whatever your view, I would love to hear it.
If you would like to have a chat with me about this or express your opinion, please call on 0161 244 3958, e-mail me on becky.garrod@bbc.co.uk, or PM me.
Many thanks,
Becky Garrod
