Steam Mops - any good?

Looking for some advice/recommendations from you knowledgeable Grapes who always know something about everything

With 4 dogs running into the kitchen from the garden, as well as my muddy feet, the ceramic tiles are filthy. Its a losing battle with a squeegee mop and a scrubbing brush - so, has anyone used a Steam mop thingy please? Any recommendations?

There are so many types on sale, with all kinds of add ons, that may be a waste of space and money. I am totally

My sister has one but i dont know what make. She thinks it great... 4 cats and grown up grandson who brews beer.

I bought one just after Christmas for cat paw prints. I have a V-x one, it can be used as a steam mop or hand held which is useful. You do still need to hoover first but it is very quick to heat up and quick to dry, which make the whole thing less of a palaver. Mine has an option for a detergent but I used it once and then haven't bothered. The arrow shaped cleaning pad either hand washes or goes in the machine.

My sister has one, I don't know what make. She seems to think it's the best thing since sliced bread.

I've got one, mine has a detergent thing in it too. I hate scrubbing the dirt out of the kitchen tiles floors but at the same time refuse to take everything off at the door if I'm cold and wet. Boys play rugby etc so plenty of dirt.
I mostly hover and mop and get the steam cleaner out once every 7(if I'm good) or 10 days ( if I've had something better to do) I think mine cost about £70. It has the hand held bit too, which I use to get the grease off the Aga pipe/ vent above the cooker.
I'm not in the house -I'll update with the make later but I think they all do a similar job. I got mine as my Mum and a friend both recommended one ( they both had different makes) g@@gle for the bargains, they are always on offer.

I got a morph.....rich......,would not recommend it,the head is an oval shape,thus is useless in a corner or up against a straight edge,to me the so called steam is a little puff,very different from the paper steamers,it supposed to do a multitude of things,am not impressed at all,i have tried,the cleaning pad keeps coming of in use as is not deep enough,only wish i had done a study of them first,i would think the triangular shaped foot would be the best,another thing is most makes recommend using distilled water,mine has a plastic shape to glide it over carpets,now that was fine,it refreshes the fibers,it is not a shampooer.get the right one then should be fine.

I have got a gerrcha (sounds like that but with a K at the beginning). It can either be hand held or used on the stick attachment to use it as a mop.
It's brilliant but you do have to figure out how to hold it in the right position sometimes.
I use mine for cleaning the furniture because of hair shedding dogs, the bathroom - brings up tiles brilliantly, cleans the curtains without taking them down, and the floors. Using it on the matresses every now and then does them good as well.
Struth I am beginning to sound like an obsessive cleaner - nope I'm not.

I agree on the gadget thing. Coffee makes, fryers etc ...I don't have them but porous tiles in the kitchen are b@ggers to clean. The kitchen is used as the front door, so it has heavy wear, plenty of kids and dogs, bikes etc!

#ive checked - mines a v@x same as Wendy. I only use mine for hardwood or tiled floors, I've no carpets. Though I do use it for the kitchen wall/ aga pipe that get greasy. I don't use it for anything else.

I have a Shark 2 in 1 which does floors then can be split in to hand held steamer - I absolutely love it and as it has different steam levels makes a great job on tile vinyl laminate or hardwood! I've had cheaper ones in past but motors/pump wears out quick but my current one is 5 yrs old n going strong!

Hubby bought one a year or so back. He's a bit of a shopaholic-cum-gadget-freak, and sometimes falls for the advertising hype - unlike cynical old me!

Anyway, it's fab for getting grimy Landy headlinings clean, among other things. I haven't used it on the kitchen floor, despite having two big dogs and a pale floor. It will do the job, but it's quick enough with the old fashioned squeezy-sponge-on-a-stick thing and a bucket of hot soapy water.

We have a v*x one. Don't get involved with these sorts of things, but OH says its really good.

Yep - my Mrs bought one in the last fortnight. Brilliant bit of kit but don't tell her i said that! I will try and remember to post which one she bought... it is detachable so does work surfaces and things too, not just the floor.

Got a v@x. As I am a mud magnet it keeps my pale coloured kitchen floor clean. Don't need a dog to bring in dirt I do that really easy
