Without doing a search, they would be my first port of call.

They're fine for storing dried stuff but I didn't find the seal was good enough for bottling. You really do need to buy good quality for that (think Kilner etc).

If memory serves me right, 1kea sell kilner jars...................Search result - IKEA
They may now but the ones I bought were a generic look a like which were nowhere near the same quality. Wasn't aware that IKEA sold any brand names but could well be out of date as don't go there unless there's something I really want. Looking at the link there's no evidence they're actual Kilner brand.

yes they were the ones I was looking at, same design as some Le Parfait I bought in France a long time ago
they are not Kilner just Kilner type as far as I can see

Kilner do not exist as a company, Rayware bought the patent and now produce the jar under the Kilner name.

The ones I bought at Ikea a couple of years ago did not seal well.
Glad it's not just me, if you're going to try and bottle food then a perfect seal is essential.

OK, didn't know that but it doesn't make any difference to the point I was making. Just because it looks a bit like something doesn't mean it's as good and a couple of us have experience indicating there is a problem. If people want to ignore hat then fine but it doesn't change the facts.

Wilco was my next port of call, when I have time I will look at IKEA ones carefully but thanks for the heads up, would have bought a load saved me an expensive mistake especialy as the doubt was seconded, good stuff alround
probably do some ikea testing and use some for dried fruit
Clas Ohlsen also do some good jars. I use mine for making sloe port/gin or storing dehydrated food. I am not convinced the seal is fully airtight, but it's good enough for these uses.
