Well, the gauntlet has been thrown! My Spanish neighbour and myself are in competition this year for growing tomatoes, potatoes and melons. He was using a kango drill thingy last week to dig out 1 mtr square planting holes for his melons - I have dug (with a trowel) my planting holes
My tomato planting stations are prepared - dug deep, filled with homemade compost and tomato fertiliser, and plastic bottles with holes stabbed in them are planted beside each station (got this idea from GYO last month page 40 if you are interested) Supports and strings are ready for my tomatoes to rocket skywards! My Vivaldi potatoes that were planted 1st March have been earthed up once and are now the foliage is about 8 inches tall and looking very healthy. Francisco's potatoes were only planted last week, but I do not know the variety (yet) My tomato plants (8 different varieties) are in the greenhouse screaming to go out - they will just have to be patient as it has been a bit chilly here for the last week. Watch this space......................
