Bit of a silly question as those affected are unlikely to be online, but have any grapes been hit by the floods?

No Peter, we haven't had rain of that quality in this neck of the woods, but my heart goes out to people affected. It must be just awful, especially if the water is getting into the house. I do hope all the grapes, and everybody else , is allright.
From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.

No rain here today but feels like winter with the temp really down. My hubby turned the central heating on tonight.
And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

Finally its stopped raining here, no floods locally, but the River Mersey is as high as I've ever seen it! Off to the plot shortly to see how everything has fared!
My heart goes out to those who have lost family in the flood and to those whose homes have been devastated.Blessings

No floods here just humungus puddles and a very sodden plot! Had a powercut from 6pm til midnight last night though - next time, must remember NOT to go shelter in the local pub, doesnt help with the waking up next morning without an alarm!! More seriously tho, thinking of those affected and sending all best wishes for a speedy drying out.Life may not be the party we hoped for but since we're here we might as well dance

We're flooded locally, but its just our drainage ditches overflowing. All my allotment and bottom garden is sodden - lots of surface water with nowhere to go really.
We've not actually had any rain for about 48 hours, but the ground is too soaked to drain away.
Thinking of everyone affected and hoping that no more tragedies occur and everyone can get home.Last edited by OverWyreGrower; 26-06-2007, 11:10 AM.

There is flodding around our area but not affected the houses. I've not been to the allotment site since Saturday so am a little worried, we've had pretty strong winds too...
Will go and investigate tonight..

Quite a bit of flooding and roads closed around here, the main roads are mostly open though, and so far it's only people's cellars filling up. The firemen are very busy with pumps. Had to stand in ankle deep water yesterday unblocking a drain on patio before it seeped through patio doors, managed it ok, and rain stopped just as the drain hiccuped, gurgled and water started draining away! Haven't had any rain yet today (touching wood now..) so off to survey the damage on lottie...
Hope everyone else is fairing ok?

Floods have been really bad here, Hull has been classed as a disaster zone, my sister, a community nurse, had to go into work early this morning, to see some of her patients. My mother had her kitchen and veranda flooded by about 6", that's where I have been this morning, cleaning out the shed for her.
A poor family are mourning the loss of a son, aged 28, killed whilst cleaning his grand dads drain, slipped and got his foot stuck down a manhole. Attempts by the emergency services, which included police divers, couldn't get him out in time. A very sad time. If you click onto this link http://www.bbc.co.uk/humber/ you can see how bad it has been here. Thankfully I was not affected by the flooding, just a leak in my airing cupboard. The worst thing I had to put up with was trying to get my dogs to go outside for a wee!!A good day is when the s**t hits the fan and I have the time to duck!

NNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
Just visited my allotment and the whole allotment site is 2 feet under water. Couldn't even get to mine to check it out but could see from a distance, 150 onions under water, all carrots under water, rotting potato's etc etc etc
gutted...really upset...
