I'm only 27 and I hope I've got a long way to go before I will seriously need to worry about alzheimers and dementia and the like but it occurred to me the other day just how often I forget the words for what I'm trying to say. It's happened to me for years now that I think about it. I can only think of one example cos it only happened this week but I know there's been many more. So a few days ago I was standing in the kitchen about to dry the dishes and I said to my other half, 'you'll need to go upstairs to get an, erm, erm, erm' my mind went blank, what is this word I need? In the end I couldn't think of it so I described it to him as the towel that lives in the kitchen. Tea towel, yes that's what I meant. It did disturb me a little, it doesn't happen every day but at my age I'm not sure it should happen at all.
Does it happen to anyone else or am I alone in this?
