Went out after tea last night, put the bin lids on, covered the rest with a fleece bought specially, set the GH heater. Got up this morning and checked the outdoor thermometer lowest temp last night was.....6'C.

Ah well will have to do it all again for the next few nights, I know first time I miss I will get hit.

All my toms and chillis are in re unheated greenhouse. I put several layers of fleece over them for the past couple of nights and they are all doing fine so far.
My peas and lettuce are out in the open ground and so far so good.
I had to put them out as I have had my sister staying with me and numerous other things going on this month as is usual every April.

I was expecting frost last night and was all ready to bring all the pots back in... But I woke up to frost yesterday morning and think I may have lost my courgette and one of my tomato plants.

Interestingly, the other tomato plant which was right next to it appears to be completely fine! I'll be making a note of that on my spreadsheet. Just a shame I don't have more than one of each to be sure it wasn't a fluke

Everything in the greenhouse seems to be ok, weirdly. it was frost overnight and today 36! Poor things, but they all seem fine! I didn't realise they would be in danger inside an unheated greenhouse, hopefully neither do they!
You may say I'm a dreamer... But I'm not the only one...

Just checked and I've lost three cucumber plants and 2 toms (possibly 3). According to the min thermometer it was minus 4 !!! in the tunnel.

Thankfully all the chillies and most of the toms were still in the house.

The message Hermes slighted in my plot and informed me of the forthcoming freeze.

I had a good run with trying to sneak in some early french beans and squash plants all looked as healthy as can be on Sunday, today though half of them are struggling and I expect the other half not to make it to the weekend :-/ they're up at the allotment so can't be going up and down to cover them.... It was good while it lasted, second sowing in a week or so I think....

Dont get frost in Torquay (not often anyway) However we have had a thousand young farmers down here for their conference and booze up, that must warm things up a bit.

Just been and covered mine with fleece and newspapers. Lined the sides of the windows with sheets of polystyrene and keeping my fingers crossed.

During the warm spell last week I rather optimistically planted out three courgette plants under plastic domes...lost them to last nights frost.
