Already you've lost me, very easy on a 'puter but on an iPad nothing is easy as they always want to do things a special way that isn't obvious to anybody who has ever used a proper operating system
Go to the photo, click edit (top RHS)
Click the cropping icon, small square on the row of icons displayed at the bottom of the page.
Drag square in to resize photo

I'm gonna try maybe with different resolution of pics as well. Only because when you do with the pc by saving the picture and add it again you saving the pics that are already upload at lower resolution ( original pics are few Mb but the one you save on pc is less then 1) I will try to see what happen.

Does it have any bearing whether the photo is taken in portrait/landscape aspect?

Landscape is fine. Infact the first thing I did was flipping the picture horizontal thinking that would flip back to vertical but was upload horizontal. The problem is only on vertical photo. So another solution is making picture horizontal.
I tried flipping a picture to landscape hoping it would come in portrait but it never worked, it's so easy to crop a bit off and it takes seconds - I can now understand why some uploaded the correct way happy bunny!
I'm so glad this thread has come to fruition. It must have been a pain for those using an iPad.

Using an iPad is a pain for many things so you get used to it
Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.
