  • That's it! I've had enough!

Too damned hot now to do any more gardening 11 am and 30 something plus degrees and I am salting the veggies as I plant them I have managed to plant some toms, aubergines and melons though. Well mulched and watered so they should be fine - now time to go and water myself

    * gets the camper ready for a trip to Spain

Swap ya! It is overcast here in France at the moment and I would love a bit of sunshine. Having said that, I know what you mean, it often gets too hot here to work outside during the day. Every year I say I should shift my day back a couple of hours in the Summer but I never quite manage it

You have my sympathy, Buss, it must be terrible for you to have to put up with all that heat.
I remember one day in 1976 when it was like that here

Sympathy....nah!! Just came through a terrible night weather wise. Howling winds and heavy rain and it's still going strong! The garden is covered in cherry blossom and not just the petals buts the whole flowers. Thankfully, as far as I can see as I'm not venturing out, no damage done. Who said it was spring?! There is never a happy medium is there?

Cold and windy here, with rain forecast for later. The tomato plants are staying in the house for now. It was minus 2.5 c in the polytunnel the night before last.

If it gets to 17c here it's a heatwave

Yep 76 was a hot dry one. Live firing on most army ranges cancelled for fear of causing a fire.

I was at Lulworth cove, the army school of armoured gunnery that year. Spent most of my time at the cove either in the sea or sat on the pub veranda drinking beer and eating fresh caught sea food. If memory serves it was early Oct before we were allowed to start firing practice again.
