  • Guess the item

Following on from GL's invention, here's another quick teaser. I'm starting with a plastic bottle, a pair of scissors, and a mystery item under the cloth. I'm hoping the product is going to be really helpful, but can you guess what the mystery item is?

Bear in mind I don't have the ingenuity of Bigmally or Greenleaves, so this might be embarrasingly obvious. I'll post a photo-reveal at lunchtime if nobody's guessed.

maybe there is some masking tape. Look like something of that shape in there. Unless is a doughnut for breakfast.

Its going to be a slug trap and the mystery item is a lump of yeast - or it could be a doughnut (jammy one please).

I think you're making a vodka still and its a potato hiding under the cloth
What do you get if you divide the circumference of a pumpkin by its diameter?
                  Pumpkin pi.

Well done to Jungle Jane, the mystery item is copper tape, which I stick to bands of plastic to make slug barriers.

Last year I lost almost all my young rudbeckia plants to the slugs, so this year each transplant will have a copper ring sunk into the soil around it.

I do also use some real copper rings around courgettes etc, they're very effective but also quite expensive. Using the copper tape though, each ring works out around 7p each.

It's a thin stick and you are going to create an exercise wheel for slugs?
