  • Celeb spotting!

I'm sure I've just seen the lovely Christine Walkden getting off the same train as me in Inverness - I would have stopped and asked for a pic but I was running late for a meeting!!

Anyone else been doing some gardening celeb spotting recently?

She must have been fast then as she was giving a talk in Ruislip according to her diary!

I once spotted Jeff Hordley(Kane Dingle in Emmerdale) in town a couple of years ago.
I've also met Paddy McGuinness, Matt Willis(When he was in Busted) and I know Peter Kay and his family.

Where do I start. Gilbert Harding and Nancy Spain (they were friends of my grandpa), Paul Simon before he was famous and was touring the UK, Peter Sellers playing darts in our local, Jack Douglas same local was going to a local shoot, Prince Charles and Camilla (not together, on separate occasions). I saw Tom Jones filling up at a motorway service station. Gary Whelan (Ballykissangel) has made me a stew. Probably others that don't spring to mind at this moment.

Ioan, nothing. People are allowed to do mundane things without being hounded. The one I didn't mention was Diana. I lived near Malmesbury and she sometimes went shopping there with her sons. Everyone acted as if it was normal and no one said anything to the press.

It's actually because I lived there that I met Prince Charles. My husband at the time allowed the local hunt to hunt on his farm. The hunt gave out thankyou presents every year. One year Charles accompanied Lord Oaksey so I had Charlie unexpectedly in my kitchen. The offer was either a half crate of wine or a bottle of scotch. You weren't given a choice and they decided on the wine for us. I hate liebfraumilch so my cooking had a lot of wine in it over the next few months.

I have never seen a celeb of any kind except I knew a woman who would have charmed the world and was on my A list until the day she died - my Grandmar!

I've no idea if I've met anybody famous, no good at recognising people and had to google half the people Janie mentioned (although to be fair dome if them died before I was born )

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

I'm pretty much like that. I can spot a bird in a field, or a deer hiding in the grass and walk past a friend in the street (good job, they know what I'm like) I don't watch TV, so I can easily miss most of them. Though when I worked in Manchester my flat was the one below Alf from Corrie - his digs for the week - he was a lovely chap, Ken often popped in along with a few of the other Corrie stars and they all shopped in my local supermarket.

It's seeing people out of place that throws you - saw a guy I recognised in the pub the other day but couldn't put my finger on where from - it wasn't till I went into little Waitr0se the next day that I realised he worked there. People should stop where they are put and not wander round in unfamiliar places confusing people like that!

Saying that, I saw Gok Wan in a pub in London when I was down there before Easter. Once saw Dennis Waterman in a pub in London too. And Neil Morrisey in a pub in London.

Hmm - seeing a trend here.

Met Man Utd players when I went to help measure them up for their FA Cup Final suits, also LUFC players when I used to work @ Elland Road........not exactly Celeb Spotting.

Over a year ago now I was in a maternity unit and chatting with one of the other fathers in the 'parents/day room' about various stuff.
I was a bit puzzled during the conversation when he asked something along the lines of did I know him - to which I replied no, I don't think so.
Shortly after we'd finished chatting and gone on our way, someone came up and said to me:
'DO YOU KNOW WHO THAT WAS?!!!!'.
'Er....no. Should I? Who was that then?'
'HE'S ONLY THE LEAD SINGER OF XXXXXX!!!!!'
                            'Oh.'
                            .

All that proves is that you hang around in hospitals and I hang around in pubs, BM!
