  • Is it nearly July?

    Hi Grapes
I can not believe that we are nearly in July. I popped down the lottie after work and picked some peas and pulled some carrots. When I got home I made a shepherds pie with fresh veg and gravy. I then made an apple crumble from apples that I had frozen last year with lots of lovely custard. We really enjoyed our warming dinner - it was just what we needed. What about Lettuce, spring onions, raddish and rocket ...... that has taken a back seat for the moment - hot dinners are more than welcome. Our heating even came on tonight

That sounds just lovely, NP, I would have enjoyed that too - yum yum! My heating came on last night too!

Never fear, tho' as it will not be long before we are all saying 'phew - went down the lottie and isn't it a pain doing all that watering, and the spinach has bolted, and I don't know what!'

    Or is that wishful thinking........?

Only consolation Nic Pippin is you're not specially picked on. Everybody has the same rubbish, cold, wet, windy weather. Some people are picked on with the awful floods - so we're lucky to escape that. Only consolation is most plants get on with the job - no matter the weather. Maybe when we get into July ????????????

Yummy NP, the perfect meal! I dont even have any carrots or peas to pick yet, they're still only babies waiting for the sunshine - but as Alice says at least they're not floating so I can consider myself lucky. Somebody please turn the sunshine knob up a few notches ...
Life may not be the party we hoped for but since we're here we might as well dance

I'm hoping for an Indian Summer - brilliant sunshine and hot weather in September/October (well i'm optimistic if nothing else) I had to water my garden on Monday eveing so I do appreciate how lucky we are with the weather down here in hertfordshire. It could be oh so different. I send my best wishes to all of you that have experienced this awful weather

I've discovered a new veg in my allotment.... underwater courgettes...

The flowers are above water, the fruit below. All seem to be getting along fine (cross fingers)

We have some 50 odd peeps coming on Saturday for our party. The posting of a severe weather warning has forced me to buy 2 more decent pergolas to keep people dry.

                  July weather it isn't.

My wife's 30th birthday on the 11th, what I've got planned doesn't rely on the weather (steady now!), but we're having a barbecue on the 14th - rain, rain go away, come back another day.....

At least we haven't had to water the garden recently here. Hope the weather holds out for your party Piglet, might need to provide wellies & cagoules as well as the pergolas. We were planning to visit a couple of outdoor events this weekend but it doesn't sound too promising.
Into every life a little rain must fall.

My friend (and colleague) is planning a barbecue for her birthday on Saturday - I haven't the heart to tell her what the weather forecast is! We have already passed the longest day and Midsummer Day, and I've never kn own it so wet at this time of the year. OK last year temperatures were similar (apart from the last few days) but we were short of water then. I'm a sad person and keep records!

I'm taking photographs at a Wedding on Saturday !!!! don't think I'll be doing many outdoor shoots - weather forcast is rain, rain and a bit more rain - you can plan many things but not the weather. I hate to have to say it but I needed to water my garden, lettuce, tom's and courgettes tonight. We have had bright weather and a little bit of sunshine today.
