The lady gets paid for writing twaddle. And we pay to read her twaddle. I'm going to be really common and show you my supper. Served on oval plates - very common, tomatoes quartered - common, home grown salad - posh, home made pizza base and Lebanese spiced lamb mince - very posh. Eaten at the table with a knife and fork - posh.
I don't care what she thinks. That's my supper as I like it - and I don't care if she thinks it's common to call it supper.

Well I call me evening meal "tea" not dinner or supper so maybe that makes me common? or maybe just a northerner.?

I've never heard such a load of twaddle..........honestly , and these people get paid for this? hmmmmmmmmm

When I was a kid, it was tea, now I call it supper, but OH calls it dinner - to me that reminds me of school and what is now referrred to as lunchtime.
So breakfast, dinner and tea is now breakfast, lunch and supper.
Then there's fly-time and half yoking too !!

Wow, great supper Alice, can I come round next time?!! When I was young I had breakfast, dinnertime (school) and tea. Now it's more likely to be breakfast (why doesnt that have a new, posh, name?), gin time and dinner (evening).
As to what I look like after a few hours playing in the veg patch, I think I'd probably scare young children - definitely unposh!
Life may not be the party we hoped for but since we're here we might as well dance

If you are 'grubby' and scruffy in an outdoorsy way, then that is posh! If you are grubby and scruffy in an unwashed way, then that is common! Yeah, you work it out!

What if you are both ?
So when we all leave our houses in the morning for a day on the lottie or wherever we happen to grow our veggies, we are posh, but by the time we return home, we have all been found out and have reverted to being common

Sorry DDL. No doggy bag. Nothing against dogs but I don't spend the afternoon in the kitchen cooking for them.

I assume you all know that POSH stands for -

                        Port Out Starboard Home

If you could afford it, you could get cabins so you didn't have the sun the whole cruise. Port side on the journey out and starboard on the way home. My bunk on our boat is starboard, so I'm always really wanting to go home!

Awh, hope Dexter is doing well DDL.

Jennie, if your starboard home that makes you 50% posh. Presumably you're common on the way out. The mind boggles !
Like home grown and home cooked is posh but served on an oval plate is common. What a load of piffle !

Supper to me is the snack you have before going to bed, not a proper meal at all, tea is definitely your main evening meal (and of course the drink of champions..................)

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

well I'm proud to be a peasant, after all we ate offal all our lives now its on 5 star menus,
as for what to call your meal, it doesnt matter wheather its your first or last meal of the day it just depends what time you have it, between 3.am and 10.30 its breakfast, 10.30 and 11.45 brunch, 11.45 and 3.00pm lunch, 3.00 and 5.30 tea, 5.30 and 8.30 dinner, 8.30 and 3.00am supper. it only gets confusing when you work shifts.
it would be much easier if we were hobbits.
as for being P.O.S.H. when i was at sea a cabin above water leval made you captain!
                              Yo an' Bob
                              Walk lightly on the earth
                              take only what you need
                              give all you can
and your produce will be bountifull
