        • Aw, Mal, it's nice to 'see' you.

Nice fish! Although not a fisherman, my Dad had a fondness for fish and had the care of a large pond at his workplace, full of crucian carp, mirror carp and tench. My pet koi retired there when he grew too big for our pond at home. You're awakening many fond memories.

            • Crumbs, those are ginormous. What do you do with them? Lob them back in? Take them home to eat?

There is plenty of bread goes in for the swans, geese & ducks from visitors to the Castle. I guess the carp get there fair share.

                          • Well, I've just read this whole thread. So if you're wondering why you've all suddenly got loads of likes on ancient posts, that'll be me!

I'm intrigued by all the baits. Some of them sound like ice-cream rather than fish bait. You're obviously spoiling them.

I went fishing with my dad once when I was very young. Only thing I ever caught was crab, lots of them, with one of those H-shaped thing that the line winds around. My dad got fed up trying to remove them. So they weren't removed by gently sliding them in, BM, just lobbing. In the end, My dad got more nips than he was happy with so we went home. I think that was the only time I ever went fishing with him. Somehow or other, my brothers started on proper rods, so I imagine they had more success than me.

So, no secrets except: don't use the H-shaped winding things.

A bit late and bb is no longer here but as my post was just liked it drew me back .

BB, we used to call it shallow frying.

Ah Snoop , forgot this post was about fishing lol
