Oooh! Prezzies!
I just got a lovely prezzie through the post!
My MoM goodies have arrived and seriously?....my own family couldn't have chosen better for me!
I got a book I've been wanting for ages.
It's the 'Back Garden Seed Saving' book, the one realseeds recommend. I always think of getting it....but with it being on my favorite seed site....I always end up buying more seeds instead!
Anyway, the book is wonderful with fascinating insights into the history of different varieties, where they came from, why this or that one are special, how best to select and save them and so on.
The second book is also a delight.
It's a field guide type book for wild fruits detailing where and when to find them, whether you can eat them, other uses (like medicinal for example) and photos and clear descriptions to identify them.
I'm forever wondering what the different berries are when out with the dogs and my long suffering husband was particularly pleased that I can now look at my book instead of badgering him to find it on gurgle with his phone!
I also got some packets of seeds;
organic florence fennel to be sown right now, today, as soon as I type this!
paris pickling cucumber....I sowed the last of mine in spring and am eating them (as small salad Qs) every day and thinking..."must remeber to order more of these"
Toms gardeners delight...you can never have too many tomato seeds can you?
and Rocket which I don't eat but grow absolute mountains of for my rather spoilt chickens!
