been making chicken soup, enough for the one who has man-flu and enough to freeze for the next dose of man-flu (which will be right after the next late-night-drinking-session I reckon!)

Now reading the big papers, and trying to resize some photos of y'days trip to the Big Smoke. Counting the hours until I can crack open the Peanut Greejo

Baking - I love making biscuits so I do it on dasy when I'm going to the Choral Society in the evening - they'll eat 'em all up and save me feeling fat and guilty!
Reading - read lots this holiday!
Quilting. Making quilt blocks by hand on hols. I use my machine at home and quilt the big quilts by hand.

What do I do when it rains?

          Try to avoid doing housework!

Went up to Allotment this morning. Made cup coffee, put net over some more peas I have planted, filled black tub and put last ones in there, did a bit of weeding, then next door neighbour came over with two goosegogs for me to eat [bless him] and a warning that BLIGHT was about. Put the fear of God into me as my daughter's spuds look a bit yellow and have brown speckles on the leaves. I thought it was OK, having read some post here on the subject, but began to panic and got someone to come and look.

Anyway, all is well - not blight - but I sprayed everything anyway with blue stuff. Just as I finished it began to rain, which probably washed it all off. Ho hum.

Grabbed lettuce, carrots, spring onions, mitzuma [?] dug some spuds, spent a wet 10 mins getting the peas, then made a run for it. Been pouring ever since.

Came back and had a long bath - now wasting time on this in order to avoid doing any work...

Decide today to just ignore the rain and get on with it. Worked as well, as I got quite a bit done!!
Soaked to the skin so I decided to light the stove in the greenhouse, boiled some freshly dug tatties and beans and cadged a couple of eggs off my neighbour which I boiled in the same water.
Sat eating my beans, tatties and eggs as the stove gradually dried out my kegs! Greenhouse was like a sauna bath!

I went out between showers to pick the Rhubarb in the garden and then made a rhubarb cake and some rhubarb and apricot jam.

I love being in the kitchen on days like this, would have made some bread but I am out of flour.

Hope nobody thinks i am boasting but I had to come out of the greenhouse today the sun was so hot. Yes, thats what I said, the sun. Our forecast was for a wet Saturday but it turned out to be a lovely sunny dat with the temp in the greenhouse up over 90deg. As I type this the sun is streaming in through the window.
Picked two dishes of raspberries today. Sowed brocolli and more carrot seed. Picked my first two tomatoes, (Kimberley) and they were lovely.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

Put on my waterproofs and go play in the mud. Puts a smile on my face as it means my shed roof will fill my IBC tanks so I don't have to pump water from the quarry which can take one morning a week out of my time.
Bramble, we had a glorious morning, got an easterly wind again this afternoon and it's ow raining, but at 7 this morning I was opening both ends of the tunnel to cool it down !

Bit difficult when you're my age and live on your own (apart from various children staying for varying amounts of time)
