So much to do on allotment, I don't know where to start, so am avoiding it!

Toms on balcony looking in a right state, they all need picking and clearing, oh dear!

Anyone else suffer in this way?

yep- I'm a bit of a butterfly like that- I do a bit of each thing so they become less daunting. Thing is, the tick list remains just as long, and that's off putting in it's own way too!

You know, I think this is one of the big secrets of successful gardening.

I have the opposite tendency: I choose the thing that needs doing the most, do that one thing thoroughly and ignore all the other stuff that needs attention. But this approach doesn't work very well, the things I ignore get completely out of control all too quickly.

Much better to do a little of everything just to maintain some sort of control. So instead of spending an hour hand-weeding a bed, spend half an hour going over the entire plot pulling up weeds that are coming up to flower and veggies that are bolting or otherwise past it. Then by all means go back and do some weeding on that first bed if you have time and inclination.

Don't worry about the long tick list, every bed always needs something doing to it, it's just a matter of urgency and priority.

I'm frightened to death of horses

Scarlet - some of them are lovely animals - my daughter had a real beauty when she used to go to a local riding school here but the one I liked best was a horse named Samson - a big black beauty I got when we were in Newquay when she first went out - I still have the photograph somewhere. By the time we moved here she had developed some skill so I only went out with her once - never could manage the Up Downs

Afternoon all, been up to my eyes this morning but going to have a cuppa and watch Doctors!! I know it's rubbish but you don't have to think and I can sit for 20mins. Hope everyone is well. It's been raining on and off since last night but I believe it's to clear up for the weekend...great because it's the holiday weekend here! Hope you all enjoy your weekend whether it's a holiday or not!

Now girls,forget the list's of stresses,go armed with a drink book ext and chill,then have a look around and think,for starter, any weeds will soon have gone to ground,next,think,what do you feel like doing,and what is important first of all,like,pruning,moving things,perhaps some areas can be covered up for now,it will stop some weed seeds and stop the weather from washing the goodness away,all the better if you cover where the weeds/ plants that are going over,pull,drop,cover,then you know all this

Been really lucky to get a lovely warm and sunny day. Been out for a nature walk and then spent a few pleasant hours in the PT re-potting things and just enjoying pottering about. Made a salad with the toms, lettuce and cucumbers. Bit puzzled on doing a count on things to see there were only 2 mustard spinach left out of about 20 sown but most things are doing OK so long as I can avoid another slug attack. Hope everyone has a good evening

Evening all. Seemed to of been here there and everywhere but not got much done. Went to allotment but ground was very soggy so didn't get much done there.
Hope to get a bit more done tomorrow.

Bladdy typical, got all me washing done (I am a domestic Ape), hung it out & the heavens opened.....................anyhoos, the sun made an appearance so alls well that ends well............have a good evening.

Good evening to you all, when I got up this morning it was actually dry after some heavy rain through the night, my wife got a washing out, have you ever watched a woman hang washing, shirts are all together, smalls? the same and socks matching, where as when I hang it out its whatever comes to hand gets pinned up (and yes I do hang it out at times) and believe it or not it dries just the same, anyway went shopping, and when we came back I brought the washing in just closed the back door when it was like a cloud burst (absolutely chuckin it doon) so no gardening today done some work on the room that`s to be decorated but that didnt last long picked up four of the grandchildren and after that watched the clock for parents getting home. After saying the days are hitched to a train when grandchildren are here the train is broke doon,
Well I wish you all a good night, and remember if you are going for a train tomorrow morning------- go quietly I want a long lie Goodnight.

Happy bunny tonight....I've finally drawn up what will hopefully be the final plans for our new kitchen!

Off to talk through it tomorrow, think a bit more , and then order it next week!
The delay in delivery will mean we have a chance to nip back to the UK to see family!
