BM - The middle one is the best for work although eldest is taking his share of grass cutting but Andrew will do anything including painting shed and fences, grass cutting, trimming bushes and now windows the last 3 he continued doing with a broken arm - plaster just came off a few days ago. Even the youngest one has had a go with the lawnmower and did a reasonable job.

Shen, send them to me! Mine will cut the lawn, and wheel barrow my chippings but they certainly couldn't paint. I'm obviously doing it all wrong! They can't cook or iron either.

Scarlet - Eldest Calum has been getting cooking and baking at school - not bad - edible - better than me although my mother taught me how to bake cake and bread when I was about 9 - lost the ability somewhere over the years Andrew can make pretty good rocky road cakes

That's good news Nicos. Lets hope Hibou eye gets better.
Got my new loom set today, so been knitting socks all afternoon. Well I've only made a pair of socks for me and one sock for the OH. Need to finish the other one off. He is walking around with one sock on haha.
Morning all. Just catching up on threads a bit. Glad to hear Hibou is getting better Nicos.
Shen I am a great believer in kids doing jobs as well. Even tough they are 8 and 5 they can do plenty from weeding, to brick picking, helping to wash the car and doing the washing up as long as there are no sharp knives. Shame the only thing they can't tidy up or keep clean is their bedroom.
Up early due to the kids waking up and not being able to settle back down. Down allotment this morning doing a tidy up. Since I have taken down most of the fruit bushes it means we can get to the last bit of rotten raised bed and more bricks. So going to be a busy morning.
Have a good day everyone
Great to hear that Hibou is perking up, when they get back into food it's a great sign
Really tired this morning, sat up late watching Bake Off in iplayer. Good final. Nadya's cake looked rather professional. Ian's, didn't have the wow factor stuck next to the other two but his was the one I wanted to sample the most - love a good carrot cake.
LOVE growing food to eat in my little town back garden. Winter update: currently growing overwintering onions, carrots, lettuce, chard, salad leaves, kale, cabbage, radish, beetroot, garlic, broccoli raab, some herbs.
Cycled the 41km in to work this morning so feeling rather fresh...Pity about having to cycle so much of it in the dark, but if I want to keep cycling in the winter months, that will be my lot I suppose..
have a good one...
I dream of a better tomorrow, where chickens can cross the road and not be questioned about their motives....
Morning all from a nice sunny Nestland, best crack on, the beds aren't gonna hoe themselves. Need to then top them up before covering over for winter..............Have a good one.
