Took youngest grandson to the allotment to take some pics to add to my Powerpoint presentation for Thursday - his friends will get a surprise when he pops up adding compost to the soil and straw to the compost bin and showing natures way on the forest floorEndeavour to have lived, so that when you die, even the undertaker will be sorry - Puddinghead Wilson's Diary

We had a school trip round the Hill, Shen. It was most educational - and probably to the children too. .
The class had the attention span of mayflies as they ticked off their 'I-spy' lists of 'what to find on an allotment', however, we did have their full concentration on composting when one of the plotters, explaining the ol' life cycle took the top off the composter and revealed slugs, snails, big juicy worms and woodlice by the million.
My advice would be to keep the powerpoint to the minimum, and the mechanics of making compost to the maximum.
Interestingly (and no gender stereotypes were intentionally reinforced), it was the girls who loved to pick the lavender stems, and the boys picking up worms.

Mornin all!
Looks like I have the sun for a short while at least.
Did a massive collection of windfalls yesterday ( thanks to the wind) and now got a few bags of stewed apple in the freezer.
We were going to go swimming today but OH went out with a bowl to get some beans for supper last night ....and we've suddenly got a glut!
So...looks like we're filling and sterilising our first lot of preserving jars for our winter stock!
( thanks for the stash of preserving jars roitelet- they are already coming in handy! )
Tis my mom's birthday today ...so happy burpday to her ...88 years young!"Nicos, Queen of Gooooogle" and... GYO's own Miss Marple
Location....Normandy France

Morning all, well the sun has gone and it has been persisting down all night and it's still going! Mr. Robin is singing his heart out on the tree in the garden so I think we can agree Carrie summer has gone...if it even arrived!
Sorry to hear about your daughter Flo but I'm sure all will be well.
Happy Birthday to Nicos' mum. Have a great day all.sigpic

I have hosted a number of school trips at our allotment and I have discovered the thing they all like best is the water pump where they can spray water all over the place although sowing sunflower seeds goes down quite well too as do the ponds with the frog spawn.
I intend to donate a Dalek bin to the school so they can experience the reality of making compost and I may take in some of the less messy materials tomorrow to supplement the pics. but it is a bit early for seaweed which I use as much as possible. In any case this is a first for me so hopefully my talk and knowledge will improve with timeEndeavour to have lived, so that when you die, even the undertaker will be sorry - Puddinghead Wilson's Diary

Miserable weather here, just like everyone else.
The GG is here with us again, just today and tomorrow
Booked next years holiday last night. Been toying with the idea for a few weeks. Las Vegas in May.
We are on tomatoes with every meal time, preferably twice daily. Might think about freezing some for cooking later on in the year. Any thoughts on the process folks?
Hope they sort your Daughter out real soon FloNannys make memories

I went Las Vegas 10 years ago. Even tho I was not old enough to go in the casinos(I was 17 then) I like the TV screen that stretched over a mile down the boulevard where the casino strip is. We also went to a water show out in the dessert(forgot what it is called). I loved a restaurant called Danny's over there. I lived off that for 2 weeks when I was in America haha.
The sun it out now at the moment but grey clouds in the sky. It's going to rain later this afternoon.
Hope they find out the cause of what is up with her Flo.Carrie
