I dont think that many of us are of pure ancestry....what with all those marauders of years gone past. If I remember correctly most have 45% french in their gene make up
I have had my DNA taken but they dont offer a results service
The rest of the results are extremely confusing and it's going to take me a long to get my head round it. Possibility of an ancestor who was a 'pioneering lady' who went to America from the UK, blazed the trail! And had 25 children!! We'll see!
That's what I thought Cariann, maybe a little bit of Irish, as a lot came from Liverpool, but 25%! Think there were some naughty goings on back then!
Dotty,
Depends - my research here showed that Irish tended to marry Irish descendants and that applied all through the 1800s till early 1900s on both sides of the religious divide so even if someone was not obviously Irish by surname they may well have had Irish grandparents. I suspect I would be at least 25% Irish as I have an Irish grandfather & 2 great grandparents on my mother's side and 1 great grandmother on my father's side although the movement between Scotland and Ireland and her religion means she may have been descended from Scots Irish rather than pure Irish.
In any case I am happy with all the ancestors I have been able to find on both sides as they all have had something interesting and good about them even if was only that they were devoted to their families and looked after their parents in their old age

DNA As I had the alarm clock set so that I could actually watch the "Dawn of Time" as it happened, everyone on the planet is related to me but what still confuses me is that, if time & space are related, why have they never come to any of my parties

Perhaps they don't like your taste in music? Either that or they were too old or too young, (depending on the time you held the party and you must remember that before the current Calendar became the norm the dates you held your parties would not match their dates even if the times were correct) or perhaps there was no space and they all turned away and went to the pub?
