We have sunshine ... and showers. Just having a go at a beetroot with a hint of horseradish jelly/relish. I know it doesn't sound massively promising, but since they are two of my favourite things ... even if it's not great it will still be good (she said optimistically).
You were right VC, slept like a very sleepy thing last night.
Sleeping like a very sleepy thing is one of the best ways to spend the night, susie. Its quite a good way to spend the day too
Good luck with the beetroot thingy. My chutney might have been better if I'd chopped the tomatoes up instead of slicing them into rings. The skins were so tough they've stayed whole and the chutney looks like a seething mass of pickled black polomints
I'm sure it will taste OK but I'll have to keep my eyes shut when eating it!
Sunshiny this morning and lots of washing out - mostly dog's bedding and the cushion from my chair. I knocked a coffee cup over it and it looks like I've had a little "accident"
Have a great day everyone. So far, I'm liking September
Our sunshine didn't last long but I did get my beans and kale picked inbetween showers.. VC I make green tom chutney and I wasn't very keen on it but then I tried fried Green toms and they tasted nicer.
I am so glad to be home and out of the rain. OH just gone to work, so I've just ordered a takeaway and now I am going to sit down and relax for rest of the night
Well VC, you certainly make your chutney sound massively appetising!
My beetroot thingy was alright, but it needs tweaking. I have given samples to neighbours and allotment colleagues so that they can give me some constructive criticism. Watch this beetroot space. I don't think I put enough horseradish in, but fresh horseradish is SO STRONG, a little goes a very long way.
I didn't get any constructive criticism - just Yuk, don't like the smell of that! Could have been worse - they might not have liked the look of it either
Wonder who I can donate a jar of Blighted green tomato chutney too. I don't have many friends now - can't afford to lose any of them
When i were a lad i used to get outta bed at 6 am, half an hour before i went to bed and lick the roads clean just for a SNIFF of blighted green tomato chutney.
