good evening Folks, not to much done in the garden today started topping up my raised bed then discovered the end boards needed replaced so cleared the soil from the end and removed and replaced with new wood, intended to use metal pipes banged into the ground as bracers but unable to get down through the tree roots, so will have to rethink what to do.
I see some Grapes are asking about books we are reading, I have just completed Robert Jordans Wheel of Time books 14 in total and now reading Lee Child`s Jack Reacher books, have tried a kindle but prefer a real book, you can`t lie back and put a kindle over your eyes to block out the light,( I have found this is the best thing to do when carrying out an eye lid examination during the day)
Well I wish you all a goodnight and dont hit the key boards to loudly when you log on in the morningit may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.
Member of the Nutters Club but I think I am just there to make up the numbers

Morning all, hope you are feeling better Carrie. It's a lovely morning this morning although rather chilly, great to see the sun! Was woken by a huge cat fight in the garden this morning, not the nicest or calmest way to wake up so I'm feeling a wee bit tired! Cats...they are blooming vicious to one another!sigpic

Just realised I typed 'Harvey' !! I did of course mean Hardy! Sounds like most of us had to read some Hardy for exams and stuff, maybe that's what put us off! Don't remember having to read DH Lawrence though, probably not 'approved' off back then! I watched the latest TV drama of Lady Chatterley the other week, and loved it, (husband took himself off to do other things!)
I don't read as much as I'd like, and still have loads of books I intended to read 'when I retired' ! Well that was 3 years ago, and I'm just too busy!
Off to look atT Hardy's cottage and museum tomorrow so maybe I'll be inspired!DottyR

At last, after 12 years I'm going to get my new kitchen. The builders will be here this afternoon for a site meeting and they start in 3 weeks time.
Now my son and myself are arguing about cookers, units and where they are going to go.
I'm tasked with emptying the whole of the ground floor in preparation."I prefer rogues to imbeciles as they sometimes take a rest" (Alexander Dumas)

It's looking very black now outside so about to rain as the BBC predicted. This morning was really lovely and I managed to get out and harvest my first turnips which was pretty exciting. Bleak as it looks, it's warmer than yesterday.LOVE growing food to eat in my little town back garden. Winter update: currently growing overwintering onions, carrots, lettuce, chard, salad leaves, kale, cabbage, radish, beetroot, garlic, broccoli raab, some herbs.

Artnoon everyone. Its gloriously sunshiny today, washing's out, chooks are out, we're all out enjoying it.................and the good news is - its only 100 days to you know what, which means that in 101 days it will be time to go cold turkey

Yeh- we've got the rain down here VC! ...thought you could do with a break from it!
I'll let you have it back when we've had enough- OK????
Janie- I second what ^^^^^ says- it's YOUR kitchen, and YOU are paying for it. Get exactly what you want!!!!
At the moment my OH is using a pneumatic drill to take out our old kitchen units which seem to be integrated into the floor as well!
It's taken 2 days to box up ( cleaning first) what we don't think we'll be needing for the next couple of months- and all the rest is piled up in the lounge where we are doing a glorified version of camping cuisine
Hopefully it'll be ready for Xmas as we're doing it all ourselves!
Oh- and DON'T mention dustLast edited by Nicos; 16-09-2015, 04:08 PM."Nicos, Queen of Gooooogle" and... GYO's own Miss Marple
