Just watched Beechgrove Garden which this week did a feature on our allotment site including an interview with me in my plot. They showed a few pics of my plot in addition to the interview part. All in all I'm a pretty happy bunny. I have had to apologise to one of my friends though. Jim McCall referred to me as this year National Pea growing champion. I was at the time the filming was done but I was beaten into second place at the NVS National Championships at Dundee at the start of the month.

Maybe your children will help too on Saturday...no one likes to see decent things thrown out....charity shops are the way to go...then you could always buy them back!

That was done in two takes btw. It wasn't anything Jim McCall or I did wrong. We are quite close to the flight path for helicopters coming in from the North sea and needless to say, one came in at the wrong time.

The man is amazing for an eighty year old.

I have a chance for revenge next weekend. Scottish Branch of the National Vegetable Society has its Championships at Cardwell Bay Garden Centre at Gourock. We are all struggling to keep our peas free of mildew though so not sure yet whether I'll have peas to put on the bench. I'll be there in any event though, I'm Show Manager.

Morning all - sun is shining now that the early morning mistiness has disappeared. Feeling properly autumnal. Well, I have done my two days work this week ... I think I am going to like this part-time lark. Another batch of cucumber relish to make, house work to do, grocery shopping including a visit to the butcher. Son, DiL and grand-daughter coming for Sunday lunch. Son asked what we were going to have - I listed produce from the allotment and he then asked if I had a 'glut' of any of those items - "Not that I am scrounging in any way!" Don't you just love your kids? (Even when they are in their 30's). Have a lovely day whatever you are doing.
