  • Morning all. A bit cold and murky here this morning. Been to allotment first thing and have shifted another two wheel barrows full of brambles and dead fruit bushes.
Going to pick the kids up about 1pm ish. Sister in law visited yesterday with some bits for the kids but also to tell us some bad news about her husband. He has been diagnosed with having cancer in his kidneys and is very poorly. He has to see a specialist this coming week and have a plan of action put together reference his treatment.
So a bit of a stressful time for all at the moment.
Anyway have a good day out there everyone. Oh and GO England Rugby Team for tonight

    • Sorry to hear you' ve had such bad news.
Keep your chin up, it may not be as bad as you think.

Hang in there. Once diagnosed the NHS is usually pretty prompt with treatment. I'll be thinking of you.

          • Put in another batch of onions in my daughter's plot and cleared the weeds from this year's onion bed - can't believe the state of it from clear in just 6-7 weeks. However shallow rooted and dry soil so were very easy to clear.

              • Good evening Folks, stayed dry but cloudy here today, didn`t do any gardening today as I have done some damage to my leg it`s either a pulled musclel or a torn ligament, I better not tell my wife I was digging yesterday, or I will never hear the end of it as I`m not supposed to do that, but then what are garden spades for if you dont dig with them, well Im off to see the Doctor Who will help me relax, I wonder if I could get a cup of coffee brought through to me, may be back on later but if not have a good night
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

                • Morning everyone. Nice and fresh outside, slight chill in the air but dry. Noticed some of my seedlings are struggling in their little pots now, need to get them into bigger containers asap. Going to be a big job and probably take me a good week as I'm so slow, just realized I'm running low on compost too. Picked off a load of toms this morning so recent sunny, warm weather has done them loads of good.

One thing about gardening - my nails will never be the same! I don't bite them but they're all chipped off short and, try as I might, I can't get them looking 100% clean.

Hope everyone enjoys last bit of weekend.
LOVE growing food to eat in my little town back garden. Winter update: currently growing overwintering onions, carrots, lettuce, chard, salad leaves, kale, cabbage, radish, beetroot, garlic, broccoli raab, some herbs.

                  • Good morning

Been reading and loom knitting. Order some round loom boards last night, so I can start making socks, hats and gloves on them. Going to finish off making the OH scarf today. So if you don't see me on here you know why

                    Have a good day

rary - hope it gets better soon - I have raised beds all over the plot so I only used a spade to get rid of docks otherwise I hand weed or as yesterday us a fork to ease out the nettles or the odd deep rooted weed. Topping up the soil with compost, sea weed and manure has made the soil in most of my raised beds lovely and crumbly just like VC's eyelids

Morning all, blooming freezing here this morning. Off to buy some genealogy software today. Costs £23.00 but gives you 6 months access to the most popular genealogy website so well worth it. Maybe also do a little trawl round the other shops while I'm there. hope you all have a lovely day!

Shen, I fear when VC reads that you will feel the end of that pointy stick tickled pink, I snorted coffee up my nose when I read that not a pretty sight!
My garlic is still staring at me, pleading to be planted....I will do it today.

I'm starting to think that Shen enjoys a bit of pointy stick

Artnoon all. Been out and about today - nothing exciting. Didn't even find any seeds to buy
Aren't supermarkets funny places? There's always someone odd there who wants to talk to me. Today, a man asked me whether his cat would like luncheon meat and a lady asked me why you can't buy hake in a chip shop these days. When a shop assistant asked me the time that seemed quite normal - except I don't have a watch, so I had to pull out my pedometer from somewhere in the depths of my cleavage, click past the "how many steps/miles/calories" info until I reached the time. Don't think she had much confidence in my pedometer though, as I heard her asking someone else a few minutes later
                                Coffee anyone?
