    • Had to share - really excited OH has agreed (been press ganged maybe!) that next year I can dig up half of his lawn and put some raised beds in. I don't quite know how I convinced him of that as he really loves his lawn.

I think he saw just how hard it is trying to grow lots in containers and having to continually re-pot things as they get bigger. It does chew up a lot of my time.

Anyway am thinking of 4 beds maybe 3 for rotation and 1 permanent. He is quite good at wood work so will make them himself - it will be a good project to get stuck into now he's retired. I shall enjoy planning it all out over the winter months in terms of layout, sizes and what will be planted etc.

So a good Friday for me.
LOVE growing food to eat in my little town back garden. Winter update: currently growing overwintering onions, carrots, lettuce, chard, salad leaves, kale, cabbage, radish, beetroot, garlic, broccoli raab, some herbs.

Well he's such a fussy eater but if I can grow some leeks, peas and runner beans next year then he will be happy with that. It will be a lot more satisfying for me as I really like my food His main reward will be in having a quiet wife LOL!

              • Afternoon all. Been a busy last few days so not been able to get down the allotment.
My sister was meant to of been coming up this weekend but unfortunately her dog Amy is very poorly. She was diagnosed as diabetic a few weeks ago but she isn't responding to any treatment and has lost over 1kg in a week. So the vet has done some more tests and hopefully the results will be ready tomorrow .
So might get down the allotment tomorrow and get some jobs done.
                Have a good evening everyone.

Thanks Jay. It doesn't sound to good. Amy is an 11 year old Labrador and it seems to of come on all of a sudden. Vet thinks she is in discomfort with something possibly her joints so has given her some dog version on Ibuprofen. Just a case of waiting.

Good evening to you all, have been away for a break the last week and spent some time catching up, and Bren I remember getting one of those as a wedding present, tried it once and never again. While I was away my leg finaly mended and now have no more pain, so have work to do in the garden and my wife wants a room papered, so will have to let her know who is the boss in this house,(by the way can any one tell me if wallpaper paste that has been made up for three/four weeks can still be used)
Well I will wish you all a good night and may be back on tomorrow, if I have some of the papering done
                          Goodnight

You would be amazed at how resilient they can be NVG, we have a Bichon who has had pneumonia, which has left him with a permanent cough, he has an elongated palate, epilepsy and the latest is a tumour on his bahookie! He was definitely the runt of the litter. The amazing thing is he is happy, friendly, playful and he is 12 years old, how he ever made it to 12 is anyone's guess. You never know, the anti inflammatories could work a treat. Keeping my fingers crossed for Amy.

                              • One of our cats was diabetic. It did take sometime to get her stable and I was not hopeful at times but eventually we got there. She had another 18 months of good quality life with twice daily injections. When she died it was nothing to do with the diabetes. Fingers crossed for Amy.
