  • So good - you have to share it!

I would prefer home-made but Waitrose's organic morello cherry jam is really great - just the right mix of sweet jam and sour cherries, yummy!

Well, what have you discovered that you want to share?

ps Guru nick - don't mention your 'spotted dick', whatever that is!

    Pickled peppadew peppers,

I have a few types of peppers (and some genuine seed) on the go to try to replicate the things as they are quite dear. Absolutely delicious.

Both chuck, I have a recipe for pickling but its a case of getting the right pepper. I have some real seed sown but have a few other types to see if they come close. You really ought to try them.

A mouthful I know but they are Peppadew piquant peppers. they taste slightly sweet at first but then you get just a sniff of heat afterwards. Great with cold meats, salads etc. Do try them.

Love peppers - although preferably not too hot.

          Growing

          early jalapeno
          cayenne
          ancho 101
          anaheim
          californian wonder
          cubanelle

had to stop myself getting some topepo pepper seeds - is that what you're pickling?

          topepo pepper

We discovered 'bandilleras' on holiday in Menorca last year - they are yummy, I don't normally go for hot pickles - I suppose it may have been to do with the sun & the gin!

oh and its duck were I come from originally!

ey up me duck, about 15 types but for the peppadew I am trying, satans kiss, red hot cherry, peppadew plus a couple of others I cant remember (blond moment).

Try pimento di padron, fry in a pan with a touch of olive oil, sprinkle with salt and eat, most are very tame but about 1 in 10 gives you a real "chillie french kiss"

Ha! not for me that - I think I know the type of chilli you're on about now. Have you looked on seedsofitaly.co.uk? they have some good-looking chillis. I have to say i often buy unusual seeds off ebay - got lots of different aubergines from usa, the price is much cheaper usually.

I grow a few of theirs, dolce de bergamo, corno rosso, peperichino. I bought some rude chilli seeds of ebay, they came all the way from Oz and out of the 5, 3 have come up so to speak. Try the real seed company as well, they are very very good.

I think I've seen the real seed co. on my googles - but I have to stop looking now otherwise I'll be in trouble!!! I just can't resist toms & aubs & peppers & beans....

So whats the recipe for peppers piglet? (or is it secret!)

By 'rude' you don't mean those 'peter piper' ones do you?

A grand chap on another forum had blagged some from a friend out in SA. Its impossible to get the seeds as they have a patent on the plant and pickling process. If I have any success with them I will put a post on later in the year offering some seeds.

I just hope that they grow.

Have you tried the web site "chillis Galore? You might find what you are looking for there.

                            Another good site the chileman.org
