Don't know if this is just a family one by

Don't keep messing about with your belly button or your bum will fall off.

My dad use to say a belly button was actually a little bolt that was keeping your bum on so if you kept messing with your belly button you will undo the bolt. He also use to say its very hard to put back on so you'd have to go to the doctors carrying your bum to get them to put it back on.

I always knew it as red and green. They are complimentary colours/ opposites on a colour wheel so to most people they are clashing colours

It looks a bit black over Bill's mother's.

Very common expression in the Midlands - I guess we all know where your mum lives, Bill!

Thinking about it, I'm not sure if it was as bent as a nine bob note....................

"A person who is as bent as a nine bob note is dishonest. The reference comes from pre-decimalisation in UK (1971), when a ten shilling (bob) note was valid currency but no such note as nine shillings existed."

"It looks black over Bill's mothers"

This allways caused me confusion when I was young, because I was Bill and my mother was standing next to me.

"Re rose for medlar, would you like a lick" This seems it wouls be more likely as Red rose, but thats how I heard it as a child. it was used whenever a child asked an awkward question.

                            and

"A wimwam off a custard mill" used when a child asked what a thing was when it was probably not a pleasant answer. Its no wonder I grew up clueless.
