  • The autumnal equinox!

    It's officially Autumn folks!

funnily enough I can embrace the weather as Autumnal and not the tail end of a rubbish summer!

    looking forward to .....

raking up leaves again for free compost!
the beautiful colours of the leaves and trees
    crisp frosty sunny mornings
    warm fires
    candles lit in the evening
    jacket spuds and stews
    halloween and bonfire night
snuggling up with my hot water bottle
picking sloes and preparing the sloe gin.
    heated car seat
    pretty frost shapes
    cold clear skies
wearing my favourite scalf and gloves
    slippers
    thicker, cuddlier duvet
    the smell of damp leaves
    damp cobwebs in the morning

    just lovely!

( did I miss anything out?)

looking through seed catalogs, watching youtube videos and being very jealous of other peoples gardens and finally get far to excited and plant enough tomato, pepper and aubergine seeds for the whole of the forum!

My favourite is lighting the fire, love the smell and feel.
I grow 70% for us and 30% for the snails, then the neighbours eats them

Yes - woodfires in the evenings (our neighbour lit his last week so MrPP and I went and sat on our deck with a glass and enjoyed the smell!).
      Sorting out seeds.
      Ordering and planting bulbs.
Eating the first pumpkins/squash, leeks and parsnips.
First snows on the mountains and first ski maybe in November.
      The sound of migrating cranes.

Hot chocolate and marshmallows in front of my log burner with the curtaind closed and low lighting.
Or better still, an irish coffee to watm you up when you come in from the cold, made with Jemisons of course.

And your hands begin to harden.

The warble - sorry hot water bottle, fire, baked spuds and stews and gloves are already in use here - mind you I'm a whimp.

I do however, look forward to....

Frozen spider webs - although the huge beasties that are trying to get in here every night obviously won't be the spinners.
Puffed up chickens - another day closer Elsie, Gert and Maud.
Snow - then I don't see the piddle patches in the lawn.
            Call the Midwife Christmas Special
            January sales
Woolly socks with rubber prints on the bottom that stop you sliding over.
OH birthday as we celebrate that instead of Christmas as its on the same day.

Sorry to break everybody's rose tinted glasses, but you have all forgotten the torrential rain and the force 10 gales.
To be honest I do like the sound of you autumn better

No force tens here either. And stunning scenery.
But our torrential rains are severe enough to often wash away roads, bridges and people

I forget to add wearing my Dad's hand knitted welly boot socks around the house to my list.

Torrential rain and occasional storm force 12 winds here but its all worth it to be by the sea and fab scenery. I love autumn, it's almost as good as spring

We have sailed to the Isle of Mull SP and wow it's beautiful, worth all that weather!

I'm looking forward to saving a fortune and not bothering with the central heating, instead snuggles in bed with the dog and lot's of TV watching after a long woofit walk.

Also, some major camera fun with the stunning scenery and weather conditions that are usually on offer around here.
Life should be more like Bonsai...
