There is no such thing as an "ordinary teaspoon" - not in my cutlery drawers anyway
I use an eggspoon which is more rounded, less pointy, than an "ordinary" teaspoon.

In France we have coffee spoons not teaspoons!
Thank goodness I brought my UK cutlery with me

I thought bashing the eggs head in with your spoon was done to get rid of the pent up anger at having to rise so early.

Far more satisfying than plain decapitation.

Especially as most recipes measure in soup spoons.

Sorry, just back to the jam thing.... I love jam on toast. But if I want marmalade, and there is only jam, that does NOT satisfy the same craving.... It's not the same thing!!!

And I absolutely can't eat a croissant without butter and marmalade.

Croissants with marmalade are just wrong, strawberry jam is best but chocolate spread is quite nice too.

Re eggs, pointy side up, much more stable with the bigger bit at the bottom. The other way up wobbles too much.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

                  Soooo.......

Grill, toaster, open fire, or Aga?

Agas make absolutely THE best toast, sadly I no longer have one. Next best is the open fire/wood burner, or at a pinch a lookalike gas fire, then the grill (gas), and if really short of time, a toaster.

I expect Bill will be on soon saying he remembers cooking toast on a hot stone

I can remember the whole family sitting round the rim of a volcano with long toasting forks pointing towards the molten pool. Mind you those pesky pterodactyls would often swoop down and pinch your toast (provided it had marmalade on it of course).

As my mother used to say "You'll eat what your given!"

Dad proved it when I was about 10 and failed to finish my meat and two veg dinner, it was presented complete with gravy rings for next days breakfast.

The trouble was I knew there would be nothing else till I had eaten that made me feel yuk for the rest of the day.

Toast open fire first, then gas grill finally electric toaster.

The only way to eat a boiled egg is to remove the shell and mash it in a cup with some butter, you can then spread it on toast or eat straight from the cup with buttered bread, and who ever heard of putting marmalade on a peanut butter piece(sandwitch) The only reason marmalade is in my house is that my wife likes it, I really should say something about that,(but she might hear me)
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

Of course we can't use it as a boat. I'm much too big and it would sink! What a ridiculous idea!
