Plot 2, pics before I get stuck in.

Got lucky the other month as I ran into the plot owner who has the half plot next to mine. He's not been seen on this plot for a while and it had gone a bit wild (The guy who has the other half to this plot thinks it's because my plot had been left for so long and was just sending a Trillion weed seeds over to his plot every week, which is fair enough).

The Rhubarb was near man height and gone to seed, the currant bushes are going mental and of course huge areas of weeds taking over. As usual to wind me up, a bloody bed of Asparagus, grrr.

Anyhoo, when I eventually met him he mentioned he has a full plot further up the lotties and was considering giving up the half plot next to me, then asked if I would be interested. So I said yes and spoke with the town clerk and paid up. 2 plots next to each other, profit!

The bottom of Plot 2 which I have just taken over, this Rhubarb patch is insane, it was like 4-5 foot tall earlier this year and seeding like a maniac. Sadly Rhubarb isn’t something I enjoy so it will be going soon.



Mid section of Plot 2 is a masively overgrown Berry plot, Black and Red Currants and some Goosegogs I believe. Again, all going as and when I get the time as not something I enjoy enough to keep which is a shame, but ah well.

& again, I take over a plot and it’s rife with Asparagus!!!! I hate Asparagus!

Are you really going to get rid of all that wonderful rhubarb, fruit and asparagus?
Can't you find another plot that doesn't have such treasures and let someone enjoy what's there?
Sounds like sacrilege to me!

I've asked around on the plots, told people to put the word out, but most people that want it already have it. I'm not going to just bin it, will put it on offer on Freegle and Freecycle. They can come and dig it up themselves mind you. :P

Not holding out with much hope though, several people said they'd come take the Asparagus on Plot 1 and so far no one other than plot next to mine has bothered. Not for lack of trying honestly.

I'd really rather it went to a good home as they are thriving plants and cropped heavily, it'd be a shame to waste them.

Me thinks that would be a long wait.

Only time I'd be heading that way is if I was heading up to see my parents on Skye, and even then it'd be one hell of a detour, lol.

That's a real shame about all that fruit. I'd take it off you like a shot. Hope you can find good homes for them. On the plus side they aren't difficult to dig out and retake easily.

There are quite a few grapes on here from around the Lincolnshire area so maybe a thread on here and hopefully they can find some new homes.
Thats a lot of rhubarb, but don´t know why you don´t just cut the fruit bushes right back and it will be completely different next year. and the poor asparagus, most people i know would love to have it ready and established, wish i was back in my home town of Lincoln i´d be there.

Yes sounds like desecration to me too.
It's a terrible waste of established plants to move them.

To be fair, if he doesn't like it, he doesn't like it. And he's said he'll make a fair stab at giving them away. Established currants and rhubarb can be moved easily in winter, I've done it.

I'm sure we've all taken stuff we didn't want out of plots when we've taken them on.

Well some of you may be a little happier, just been up the plot for a late evening stroll with Shadow and to water the plot.

Seems the guy who had the half plot has come and claimed his Asparagus! *happy dance* I'm hoping he comes back for the Rhubarb and Currants in the next few days, heh.

Very impressed with your new plot. Great that it is next to your first one.
Like Sparrow has pointed out if you don't like some thing then you don't like something. I have shifted a load of our fruit bushes to my mom and dads and the guy who had my plot ages ago has taken a few of his old plants back.
